My middle daughter is going to sleepaway camp for the first time. The camp "highly suggests" that we send care packages to the girls. I take that to mean that everyone else is going to be getting something, and I don't want her to be left out, so I'm planning on sending her one...maybe two, one per week. My older daughter has always gone to "no contact from home" camps, so this is new to me. There is a no-outside-food rule, so we can't send food. What kinds of things would you put in a care package?

So far, I have glow sticks, photos of her pets, and a book (she loves to read). Any other little things you can think of??

I like the glow sticks idea.

Depending on her age and style, some of these might work:

    headbands
    bracelets
    makeup case
    water bottle
    handi wipes
pocket game (like the game 15)
    Mad Libs
    flashlight
    personal fan
    diary
    one-use camera
    book light
    bookmark

My girl scouts LOVED glow sticks at camp!
How about fun pens/stationary or a journal?
A deck of cards or card game that she likes?
You should hit the dollar section at Target or Michaels!
    Good luck!

My sister just got back from camp and my other sister works at a camp (and yeah I still send her a package. lol)

Gel clings, if she has windows, and glow sticks and jewelry are the most popular things. I sent them both the sally hansen nail effects strips since you don't need them to dry. Other than that, hit the dollar sections or dollar store and just look for cute stuff. It's really more about getting the box than what's in it. My sister's camp is only a week - I had to mail the box before she left to make sure she got it in time. lol.

A special pillowcase and a few paint markers for her to collect autographs on...my friend's daughter loved that...she had a keepsake from camp.

maybe a camera and an envelope with postage paid on it, so she can send it back and you can develop them and send them back.

how about an address book or some kind of friendship or autograph book to make sure she has the contact info of her new friends.

perhaps there are small comforts of home that she might miss.

I was thinking gum... but can you sent that one food?!?
I think of food as like something that may be filling... candy as like a treat. I know when we went to camp we had hard candies and gum!!! Plus you could share with friends!!! What about some fun smelling shampoo or body lotions or shower gels.

    Hand written letters?

I just went through an old box of my childhood stuff my parents still had in their garage and found 2 letters from my grandparents when I was at camp...they were sweet to read but I had to unfortunately throw a lot of the stuff away anyways due to mold...gross yeah! It was sweet to receive it as a kid at camp and then find them again as an adult. they were dated 1991!
