    Meant DMV, ha!
Is it known all over that no matter when during the month that a person bought their car, that when it's time to pay the registration each year that it's always due to the DMV on the last day of that month?

So let's say someone bought their car on Sept 7th. When the DMV registration bill comes, isn't it going to be due on Sept 30th? So no one's car would ever get towed until the very end of the month IF they couldn't pay, right?

BTW, anyone know if smog places are open nowadays? I don't believe so since that's not really an essential & no one's driving around hardly anyway.

Hasn't your state extended deadlines and waived fees due to the quarantines? Here they have extended due dates by 90 days and waived all late fees during that time period.

We also pay registration during our birth month, not the purchase month, so that's different, too.

No, the only difference is that DMV offices are closed. On the official DMV site nor on the phone when I call does it say anything about anything being extended or waived for XX days. IF ONLY a smog check didn't have to be done this time around, this could be handled all online like always (covid or not). The site only says:

"California is in a State of Emergency, DMV offices are temporarily closed to the public and appointments are currently not available. Check the Online Services page for ways to complete your DMV business."

I've got to find out how this works now when a smog test is required!

    I found this online . . .

The California Department of Motor Vehicles has announced a 60-day grace period for transactions that have a deadline of March 16 or later and require an ...

I couldn't read the rest of it. I have my ad-blocker running on my iPad.

OK, great, THANK YOU! Oh, I wish I knew the link, so I can print it out & have proof for the leasing office just in case they even think about starting to tow people away out here in the complex lot.

I'll try to look this up, but if you can find the official link, please let me know, thanks again Ima!

My local toyota dealer service shop is open. Car repair is an essential service. So I think smog shops are likely to be open as well. Test results are reported to the DMV electronically, and registration fees can be paid online.

Actually, the DMV was having trouble keeping up before all this. So I don't think the grace period is new. But it might be more official now.
