We're still not completely done refinishing our cabinets (need to finish adding the molding and hang a new wine rack), but I thought I'd share what it looks like.

You did a great job. We re-did our cabinets 2 years ago and I wish I had not allowed my hubby to talk me out of the cherry. I love the look of them.

    How did you do it?!?!

If I get the house I just bid on I would love to do that to my cabinets. Was it hard?

We used a mixture of 4 parts mixing glaze to 1 part paint. I used the directions on this blog: http://anythingpretty-jenny.blogspot.com/2009/11/how-to-reglaze-honey-oak.html

It wasn't really hard, but it was time-consuming. The sanding took about two days, then all of the painting (2 coats of paint, 2 coats of poly) took 3 days. Then it took a few hours yesterday to get all of the new pulls and hinges on and get the doors hung. I was home all week on vacation, so I was able to work on the cabinets pretty much all day every day. That helped to get it done more quickly.

That looks really good. Our kitchen is the only room in our house that hasn't been remodeled. It's all original from when the house was built in the early 1970's.

Now if only someone could point me to the easy fix for horrible tile countertops! There is no glaze or paint or coating or finish that can fix that. Just muscle power and $$ to replace it !

Thanks, everyone! I'm so glad we decided to take on the project. It was time-consuming, but since I was home on vacation this week, it worked out pretty well.

It's nice to finally like my kitchen. :)

Mine is right out of a 1960's sitcom.

"Marlite" (fake marble stuff) on the walls, covered as much as possible by the art work the kids bring home. (It's not that they're such remarkable artists, but anything is better than marlite!!!) Practically no counter space, lineleum floor... what a nightmare!

But it stays until we have money to replace it.

    So bring on the artwork!!
