Procrastinating on grading over here :)

Which ones do you have on your car? I don't have any, but I sorta want a Coexist one, I've always liked it.

None. Just those window decals for colleges. I don't particularly like bumper stickers. Incidentally, I just mentioned in the jury duty thread that having bumper stickers was a question in the voir dire process last fall when I was in a jury pool. Seemed that those with bumper stickers might be thought to have strong feelings of one sort or another and might not be accepted to the jury. Interesting.

I've owned lots of vehicles in my life (we currently have 2 SUV's, a jeep, and a truck) ....... but I've never put a single bumper sticker on any of them.

IMHO, bumper stickers invite vandalism or theft ..... For example "This truck is protected by Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson is simple dumb. There are people out there who might hate guns so much they will vandalize your vehicle.... and people who might break into you truck just to steal a firearm.

Besides that I keep my vehicles...... cleaned, waxed/polished. I take a lot of pride in them. Bumper stickers would only detract from the look.

As for "Coexist"...... I'm not sure I know what that means....

I enjoy reading other people's bumper stickers, but I will not put one on my car simply because there are few things worse than faded, peeling stickers. :)

I have one sticker on my car, about donating your organs. I've had the same sticker on my last 3 vehicles.

Never had one & probably never will have bumper stickers. But, I have license plate frames stating that I'm an alumni of my alma mater. I wouldn't mind having a personalized license plate one day, but I'd have to seriously & creatively think of what words I'd want on it.

Someone who works with me has a bumper sticker that says "Honk if parts fall off" I've also seen one that says "My zombie ate your honor student"

I have one that says "The Smiths", one that says "Support Your Local Brewery" for Carolina Brewery, and a ZS/Zombie Squad logo.

Reading this in English, thank our military

I really, really hate that bumper sticker. It basically sums up most of what I think is wrong with society as a whole today. But then, you would probably disagree with most of stickers I would consider putting on my car, as well. For some reason, I've just always had a very strong negative reaction to that particular sticker. Maybe it's my background with ESL?

I love reading bumper stickers! I've probably almost crashed into the car in front of me 100 times trying to read it. I've never had the nerve to put one on my car though-probably because I know I will resell it one day.

My favorite was: Driver carries no cash....he's married! ;)

I don't have any on my car. I have a bumper sticker in my office that says "My Pug is smarter than your Honor Student". I thought it was cute to add to my "pug" stuff collection but I would never put it on my car.

I have only had one bumper sticker in my life. Our media specialist's husband works for the Tampa Bay Rays and she gave me a sticker that said "I love Rays". My husband is Ray, so I cut the 's' off and had 'I love Ray' on my car until I gave it to my son, who immediately scraped it off. My new car has magnets-two little ones for the USF Bulls and one that says "Wag more, Bark less". Oops and a tiny window decal from Margaritaville in New Orleans.

I don't have any and probably never will. I feel like more and more people are getting magnetic bumper "stickers", which seems like a much better option.

I guess the message I get is different from yours.....
First is literacy since Reading is the key to it.
Second the military does protect our american way of life, My son and my daughter both served in the military.
If I wanted it to be a slam against the "ESL type of students" I would thank the Border Patrol.

I'm not debating things, Dave, just explaining...many people would argue that the English language is not necessarily synonymous with the "American way of life".

We use to have several on our Liberty-one said 'I'd rather be in Ann Arbor' (after I moved to CA from MI) and a triathlete association one for dh. Now we have a full back-window Sprout decal. Hopefully I'll be getting our official Green Business certification in the next few weeks, and I can add that sticker decal to the Sprout decal.

In college, I had an old car with stickers on the back window. One said 'Save a horse, ride a cowboy'. My friend gave me a 'Weasley is our King' sticker, but I never wanted to 'waste' it on the car, so I kept it nice. I know there were others, but I can't remember them.

I don't like bumper stickers, either. When I was about 19 I had 2 on my car that represented bands I like.

I like to keep my car neat and clean. :)

We don't have any actual bumper stickers on our vehicles, but I have a college window sticker with the clear background on my car and DH has an USMC sticker on the window of his truck.

Not synonymous? Then why do we have ESL? if it is not to assimilate into the "American way of life", just say'n :)

If anything, I would think the military introduces us to different languages, and introduces foreigners to our culture.

I have an Obama sticker, and also an American flag cling, a University of DE cling, and a DE Public Schools - Growing Great Together cling. I had some other political stickers on around election for DE but I took them off when I moved to PA. The Obama one will stay on until it gets replaced in the next election cycle - guessing 2016. Hopefully I won't have the car anymore.

    I have no bumper stickers.

But there's a picture of Tinkerbell on my back window, a magnetic Disney World picture, and a magnetic Keep Christ in Christmas decal on the back of my minivan.

I also have 2 dents I refuse to fix. Both are the result of hitting a stationary object while driving and crying at the same time. They're a reminder of both the need to be careful and that I'm stronger than I think.

But having a command of the English language is definitely a key to success, wouldn't you agree?
The 'save a horse' sticker is just a bit sexual in connotation...probably not the best sticker in a school parking lot:dizzy:Don't have any idea who Weasley is....

As I said, I'm not at all debating either side of the coin (although I perhaps would in another dedicated thread). I thought Dave may not have understood how someone would be offended or just plain bothered by the sticker.

I'm confused by your posts...not exactly sure what your point is. Dave shared his bumper sticker, someone said they hated it, Dave seemed to not understand that person's interpretation—although maybe he understood by just disagreed, and I was trying to offer an explanation as to why some would disapprove...

Not sure what is confusing you...by their very nature bumper stickers state opinions, in which not all will agree...that, simply, is my point, no argument, no drama, no controversy...just that bumper stickers proclaim a point of view.

I don't have any. I don't like the look of them. I paid way too much money for my vehicles to stick things on them. I always have a personalized license plate, and I put vinyl initials on my back window.

I'm just not a fan of bumper stickers.

I was going to mention here that I've seen bumper stickers that say, "My Boston Terrier is Smarter than Your Honors Student." But, I'd never put that on my car either.

I think so too. I think it cheapens the car.

One teacher's car at work has one that says "I don't get paid enought to be this ****** off."
