    Hi everyone,

I'm a high school intern for a fifth grade class and I have to create a bulletin board that goes along with fall. I can't think of any creative ideas. It needs to be a craft that the kids can do and then I would put up their crafts on the board. Also the board needs to have a title that goes along with the craft. So far I've thought of doing a scarecrow with crows that the kids decorate. Is that stupid? And tracing their hands to make turkeys was another one. Does anyone have anything that has worked for them that was fun and easy? I appreciate all the help :)

There are so many things you can do...do a quick google search, I like to search using google images too so I can see great ideas quickly!

Does it have to be a craft or more academic?

YOu can have then cut leaves out of coffee filter...and then they scribble leaf colors (red, yellow, brown) with makers and then they spray them with a water bottle and the colors bleed into each other like changing leaves do. and then laminate them (they just look nicer) and you can put them all over the board and then make a book template where they can write the title and author of a book they read and put it next the leaf..,...the title could be Fall Into A Good Book!

I've tried Google search with no luck, but it has to be more of a craft. Thanks for the idea!

Well you could just do the coffee filter leaves and make this bulletin board....the students love to see the colors bleed and change when they squirt it with the spray bottle.

Family Trees are popular this time of year - I've used a template on Teaching Resource Center, search for family tree in the search bar on the right.

I did a quick google search for "fall crafts elementary" and came up with these:

    http://www.apples4theteacher.com/creativearts.html
    http://www.daniellesplace.com/html/thanksgiving.html
    http://www.freekidscrafts.com/early_elementary_crafts-t32.html
    http://www.proteacher.org/c/100_Autumn_Leaves__Fall_Art_Projects.html

    Some titles:
Fall into Ms. ?'s class (into learning, into 5th grade, etc.)
We've Got Something to Crow About (with scarecrows and some type of writing)
Ms. ?'s Pumpkin Patch (something with pumpkins)
Button up for Fall (something with buttons)
A Class to Crow About (scarecrows)
Let's Harvest Good Character (Good Learning, Good Grammar, etc.)
Reading Leaves You Smiling (something with leaves and books?)
Falling for Math (for Learning, for Science, etc.)

Hope this gets your wheels turning :)

I did candy corn cinquain poems yesterday. The kids transferred their poems to a large candy corn template. Not extremely crafty, but it still is cute and the kids LOVED it. Before we wrote, we ate candy corn and they filled out a chart: looks like, smells like, tastes like, feels like.
