So, our school finally hit our API goal of 800 and we are all really excited. We had a school wide assembly and carnival in the afternoon to celebrate a few weeks ago. One of the students that I work with went from far below basic to advance! He earned five bracelets. Each student got one bracelet for each band that they went up on. So, my principal congratualated this student (who is now in fifth) and asked him how he was able to do so well in math. He told my Principal that it was because of his math teacher (me). He told her that I was able to really help him to understand the math. He also went on to tell her how I also really helped his friend, who was on below basic (I don't know which friend this is) and is now advance, also.

So, my Principal is VERY proud of me. :D

If you remember, two years ago, I had a Principal from you-know-where who forced me to resign. Interesting....

That's great! I bet teaching (or any job) is a million times better with a supportive principal. It makes a huge difference. Congrats!

It does make you feel good, doesn't it -- to get a little praise. We had a meeting tonight with parents to discuss what to expect on the state LA test. Walking out with some of my last year after-school parents, one set of parents told me that when I had their son in after-school, his grades soared. However, when he was transferred to another program, his grades fell to the bottom. Granted it was not good news for the kid, but it put a little kick into my tired step (the praise did). :D

Oh dear.... I have been slacking, greatly, in the cartoon department. I actually do have half of a cartoon completed. Just need a few more pics to finish it off. :p Just been too lazy/busy.
