I am new to 6th grade and I am going to start reading Bridge to Terabithia with my class in a week or so. I am just wondering if anyone has done anything AWESOME with this book in the past that you are willing to share! THANKS!!!
I am no help. I began reading it to my class (wanted to get in before they saw the movie) and after about 60 pages, by mutual agreement with the kids, we discarded it. I don't know why, but it just didn't gel with our group, including me. Could be cultural, as I have been told it's somewhat a classic in American literature.
Bridge to Terabithia was in our fifth grade curriculum well before the movie (which is extremely different from the novel) came out. Teacher Created Materials and Scholastic have excellent teacher's guides.
I bought this book for when I do the story, it helped alot! http://www.buyteachercreated.com/estore/product/0401
I have worked with this novel in several different formats in my classroom for a few years now. I have done a lot of different assignments with it. All are in my folder of course, but I'll look through it tomorrow and give send something your way. With the movie just released before summer, there is considerable differences between it and the novel and that would lead me to consider doing a media comparison. I'll grab my other ideas for you tomorow.
