Hmm. Well, I understand how she'd want some sort of justice after giving up her job but a part of me thinks that if we were all able to sue for our mistakes, then it'd get out of control.
I guess a lot of exes would owe each other money as well. People make many mistakes in relationships and this is no exception. I also made the mistake of moving in with someone to have it not work out. I didn't leave my job, but I had to drive an hour each way because of the move. I chalk it up to a lesson learned (and she should too!). Wonder if I should've sued for all the money I could've saved in gas and tolls?
This is just ridiculous. Really. And he paid off some of her debts and her house payments. The article said that he got cold feet after he learned she had even more debts. I understand she gave up her job to move back, but did she have to take such a low paying job? It was quite a bit of difference from the one she gave up. I know she feels jilted, but the rest of us (hopefully) learn from our mistakes.
It angers me that our "justice system" even allows cases like this to clog our system. Shame on her. Do I feel bad that she lost all that money by leaving her old job? Yes. Does that mean she can sue? Heck no!!
In a world with a 50% divorce rate, we shouldn't be punishing people who decide NOT to marry instead of going through with it only to divorce later. I'd hate to think of what can of worms this will open up. It's almost like blackmail in a way...
Would your opinion be different if he had married her and asked for divorce afterwards? I have a hard time accepting that people can easily get away from their responsibilities. An engagement is already a compromise... On the other hand, she should pay him back the money he used to pay her debts.
I do think it would be different if it was a divorce. You make certain vows to each other when you get married---not when you are engaged.
Man's Opinion Here I LIKE THE IDEA She gave up $81,000 job and took a $50,000 less a year job and he has the gaul to complain about $42,000 debt!!!??? Why didn't he move to her place?? It is a contract written on a Ring!!!! now $150,000 may be a lot but I bet he doesn't ask another woman to marry him with out the commitment that he should have. Didn't think I'd be on the woman's side did you?
Not that I have a strong opinion either way, but I would understand it more if the money was for wedding expenses.
She is too old and educated to be playing the igenue. She is taking no responsibility for her actions. Why didn't she stay at her job until she married him? No adult, responsible woman would drop everything to follow a man. A young uneducated woman with nothing to lose- yes, but a mature woman with any sense-no.
Not radical just logical. Everyone makes choices. When we take chances, risk has to be taken in into consideration. We calculate the risks and make our choices. The man declined to marry her once before. She gets a great job and retirement, and she leaves it all and moves in with him only for him to decline a second time (a month later)? She risked and lost a lot! She doesn't seem to take any responsibility for taking such a huge risk.
when you have Convictions Of The Heart logical? who said love was logical? I've spent a lifetime looking for you Single bars and good time lovers, never true Playing a fools game, hoping to win Telling those sweet lies and losing again. I was looking for love in all the wrong places Looking for love in too many faces Searching your eyes, looking for traces Of what.. I'm dreaming of... Hopin' to find a friend and a lover God bless the day I discover Another heart, lookin' for love When I was alone then, no love in sight And I did everything I could to get me through the night Don't know where it started or where it might end I turn to a stranger, just like a friend I was looking for love in all the wrong places Looking for love in too many faces Searching your eyes, looking for traces Of what.. I'm dreaming of... Hopin' to find a friend and a lover God bless the day I discover Another heart, lookin' for love You came a'knocking at my heart's door.. You're everything I've been looking for.. No more looking for love in all the wrong places Looking for love in too many faces Searching your eyes, looking for traces Of what.. I'm dreaming of... Now that I found a friend and a lover God bless the day I discover You, oh you, lookin' for love In all the wrong places Looking for love in too many faces Searching your eyes, looking for traces Of what.. I'm dreaming of... Now that I found a friend and a lover God bless the day I discover You, oh you, lookin' for love
