I enjoy watching "Say Yes to the Dress" but I have yet to see a bridal gown that I would actually wear. I've even looked online (just for fun) at wedding dresses and could never see myself in any of them.

    Is that weird?

I guess it is good that my husband and I didn't have a wedding that required me to wear a bridal gown ... I'd be forever searching for the perfect dress.

Something like this might work, but I think the skirt is too full. My body shape is like this girl's and I find the dress flattering, but I wish the skirt wasn't so full http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product...etails-WG3165_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns

This is just for fun ... I'm already married and didn't wear a gown, it just stumps me that I don't like any wedding dresses. Now, show me some gortex rain gear to wear on a fishing boat and I know exactly what I want! :)

I found with bridal gown shopping, what looked good online often looked awful (on me) in person and vice versa! This is the gown I ended up buying:

Way back when, a good friend of mine who worked in the fashion industry designed and made my dress for me as my wedding gift--she even designed the custom lace trim (best gift, ever!).

I'm getting married in October- we pushed it back :( - and we're doing a civil ceremony while eloping. Its not like a wedding so I'm not wearing a traditional wedding gown. In fact, I haven't even started to look for something to wear!

My mother got remarried and my sister got married the same year I did. I felt sorry for my mom with all the expenses so I made my own dress and the bridesmaids dresses. I had no problems with it but now, many, many years later, I see all the dresses and wonder what it would have been like to try them on. I must admit to being an old fuddy duddy and not liking some of the really sexy, revealing dresses. Leave the linguire for the wedding night!

I bought the first dress I tried on. I was really not into wedding dress shopping. I went ONE day and tried on ONE dress. I really did like it, though. It fit perfectly off the rack. I didn't have to have any alterations at all.

Here is my wedding dress. It is hard to see, but there is a flower sash attached to it. I don't like the picture as much as IRL. I also might buy another shorter dress for the reception.

I was married in jeans, so I'm not the dress type either, but I still find many wedding dresses beautiful—I just don't want to be the one wearing the things. :)

I just googled for a couple minutes, so I'm certainly not saying this would be the dress, but I like dramatic princess-style dresses. And at the same time, I love simple, so... :haha:

I'm not married yet (although I'm at the age when many people have way by now.) Believe it or not, I haven't really looked through one bridal magazine/book. I haven't even thought about wedding dresses yet.

I have some idea of what I like & don't like. I'd like something form-fitting & I don't really care for lace. I like sleek, modern style. It's one of those things where once I see it & try it on, it may be THE ONE. :)

I bought my dress at Kleinfelds in NYC and met Randy. I spent more money on it then I wanted to.

I love the show Say Yes to the Dress. I could never pay that much money for a dress though. My wedding dress cost about $550-and I thought that was too expensive. This is very similar to my dress: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product...oidery-WG3022_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns

Mine had a straight back though, and it was ivory.

After watching the show so much, I might have picked a different style of dress if I did it again.

    Muggle-that is GORGEOUS.

I loved my dress. Well, I had two-we had a beach wedding out here in CA for dh's friends and family and I wore a simple off-white dress from the Limited. My big dress was for back in Michigan-our 'real' wedding. I have it on a dress form in the guest room-the entire room is designed around it. I bought the gauzy curtains from Ikea and the duvet cover is bunched like a wedding dress, and the accents are all black, white and gray. It's a very girly room. ;) I got the dress when it was just a sample-there wasn't even a magazine picture to show people. But it was not that much money and no one had seen it before! ;)

This is the one I have my eye on right now.

I also kind of like this. http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product...n-9T9612_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Size-Plus-Sizes

And i LOVE this. I love dresses that have a lot of fabric but aren't necessarily full, like this one. And even better if they have pockets. http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product...wn-T3039_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Size-Plus-Sizes

This is a little bit of a sore subject with me. As soon as BF pops the question, I pretty much have all the details planned. I just wish he would come on and do it, already!

All of the dresses are so beautiful. I love how yours is displayed Jem-most people just put it in the closet afterward.

I was watching Tori and Dean's Wedding Planning show with the pug wedding and started looking at things like dresses myself. I actually said to the tv--- I want a wedding!!!! I just don't want to get married.;)

I got sick of waiting for my DH to ask me to marry him, so I went and bought my dress three weeks or so before he asked me.

Just tell him you are going to buy your wedding dress today because it's on sale. Of course DH and I had been dating for since Oct 2000 and I bought my dress in June 2008.

This is my dress for my wedding in July...

    http://www.weddingshoppeinc.com/pr/Maggie-Sottero-Kameryn/7085

    I love it :D
I knew I wanted something with lace and my mom says that it reminds her of my grandma's dress which was gorgeous, so I like that. After I tried this one on I didn't even want to put anything else on, that's how I knew it was the dress. I think the back is my favorite part.
I love seeing everyone else's dresses!

I can't find a dress that looks anything like my dress, but...

It had detail work on the bottom of the skirt and on the train similar to this (it also had the same detail work on the bodice):

    http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product...-T8740_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Silhouette-A-Line

Shoulders and neckline similar to this:

    http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product...ridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Style-Classic-Traditional

The shape of the bodice and how it met the skirt were similar to this:

    http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product...ridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Style-Classic-Traditional

The fabric was similar to the first gown, but in ivory, and the skirt was a LOT fuller.

This thread is fun! Back in 1986, I paid $330 for my dress and bought the first one I tried on. I still like it (for 1986) but I fantasize about shopping for one again. 25th anniversary this June but I'm pretty sure that if we have a party, it will more likely require a swim suit, not a wedding dress.

Wow, Jem - you are right! I think if I saw a bride with some of those dresses I would wonder about her sanity or sobriety and I certainly wouldn't want to see them in wedding pictures for decades!

It is great to be a guy:
    Wedding dress $1066.95
    Rented tuxedo $100.00

Not bad for a groom since it is "the bride's day" and he is "just along for the ride"
