Brand new ESL Coordinator

    I just found out I am going to be the new ESL coordinator at the middle school where I teach. I am excited about the opportunity to help the students, but this is only my second year teaching middle school (3rd overall) and I am unsure how to prepare for this position. I was wondering if any of you:

    . Have any tips on how to be an effective ESL coordinator

    . Want to share anything (tips or important nuts and bolts details) that might help a first-time ESL coordinator

    . Have any book, curriculum or study material suggestions to help me get prepped for the job.

    I would consult with the coordinator in a similar-sized similar population school in the area. You will be the face of the school for the immigrant community. You will also have to observe teachers , so get to know them. Be personable, not dictatorial.
