The children in my class are having a hard time with books they are ripping the pictures and other things. So i was thinking about doing a book theme for an example I will teach them about different kinds of books one day. Make my dramatic play a library. I was wondering does anyone have any ideas? For like art/crafts or other things?

There's a wonderful book about taking care of books called Mr. Wiggle's Book. It's available on Amazon. Sorry, I don't know how to to a link.
I also show my students how much I love books and how sad I am if one is torn up.

What I have found that works really well is advice I got from www.pre-kpages.com under new teachers bootcamp.

There is a word document that takes you step-by-step when introducing centers. I have used the intro to the book center for 3 years and the children learn how to care for our classroom books from the beginning of school.

Look it over and see if it will help you.

how about letting them make their own books--- children tend to take better care of things they feel they have ownership over
