Does anyone have any good book study ideas centering around reading or student engagement for a junior high staff? The only one that comes to mind off the top of my head is Classroom Instruction that Works by Marzano. Any other ideas?

I Read it but I Don't Get It and Do I Really Have to Teach Reading, both by Cris Tovani are great resources for middle and high school teachers. Both books will spur conversation among teachers from all content area about what literacy looks like in the content areas, not just in language arts.

Those are excellent books, Mrs. R. Kat53, if you're interested in promoting vocabulary acquisition across content areas, try Word Wise and Content Rich by Fisher and Frey. The publisher has a nice set of resources that make it an excellent choice for group study: http://books.heinemann.com/wordwise/
