I have a student in grade three who is a very strong reader. She can easily read and understand books at a level T (Fountas & Pinnell). I know that her reading level is much higher than this, so I need to test her again after Spring Break to see exactly what level she is reading at. Her mother has asked me for book suggestions that would be appropriate for the reading level, but also for her age. I'm not too familiar with books at this level, so I would appreciate any suggestions that you could give me. Thanks!

    Harry Potter
    Series of Unfortunate Events
    anything by Roald Dahl
    Boxcar Children
    Nancy Drew
    Shiloh
    My Side of the Mountain

You can go onto any public library system website and look for reading lists, too.

There is such a range of reading abilities and interests in 3rd graders - makes it very interesting to teach them. Good luck.

My third grader also loved Because of Winn Dixie, the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books, and the Ramona books.

How about having a 1st grader who is at this level...sometimes it is frustrating trying to meet the needs of all my students.
