One that I'm going to use is "David Goes to School" to help teach about Classroom Policies (Rules...I just got tired of that word!) Anyway, I'm going to read it to them and then discuss the teacher's reaction at the end and how it will be the same in our classroom. I will love them no matter what. Then, we will brainstorm things WE are not supposed to do in school and create some class policies from them. (Respect and mind the teacher, treat others the way you would like to be treated, and always do your best. These three seem to encompass everything without having to list 5 jillion rules.) Then we're going to make a book opposite of David. We're going to draw a picture of ourselves following a particular rule or doing something nice and write a caption to it.

Another one would be "Get Ready for Second Grade, Amber Brown" by Paula Danziger. A great series called My Weird School starts with "Miss Daisy is Crazy" and is written by Dan Gutman. The "Horrible Harry" and "Junie B. Jones" books are also popular.
