I am looking for a good Project Gutenberg http://www.gutenberg.org/ book for middle schoolers. We are one-to-one laptop school. We also do not have much in the way of books.

I am open to suggestions, for good books.

Sherlock Holmes, Dickens, Flatland, Mark Twain, Kipling?

I remember reading Hound of the Baskervilles in 8th grade. We also read Great Expectations, but that was some lousy abridgment I refused to read. I didn't get along with my teacher--she corrected my pronunciation of Jane Eyre and took points off on a paper because she didn't know what "aura" meant.

I personally use Dickens' "Oliver Twist" & "Tale of Two Cities". "Call of the Wild" and "The Odyssey: (Although I personally did not enjoy "The Odyssey".

I was going to do captains courageous but the book looks like the words will be to hard.

I need something around 5th grade reading level with books that 8th graders will like.
