We always sing a blessing before eating snack at preschool. I know two: 1)We give thanks to thee oh God, we give thanks to thee oh God and 2) A-B-C-D-E-F-G, thank you God for feeding me (tune: twinkle twinkle, little star) Does anyone know any other short, fun ones? I'm trying to remember old scouting ones, but not having any luck. Thanks.
god our Father God our Father we thank You we thank You. For our friends and family, for our school and food we than you we thank you. (to the tune of where is thumbkin) We don't sing to do the bessing though. We have a prayer we say. It goes : God is good God is great now we thank him for our food and our friends and our families amen.
Oh, the Lord's been good to me, And so I thank the Lord For giving me the things I need The sun and the rain and the apple tree. The Lord's been good to me. Amen. Amen. Amen - Amen - Amen.
Does anyone have a blessing that isn't christian related. I am looking for something that is a little "westenry" and not so religious.
"Oh, we thank you for this food, for rest and home, and all things good, for rain and snow and sun above, but most of all, for those we love. Thank you." Sort of to the tune of "merrily we roll along"
Dear God, Thank you for our families and this delicious lunch. Amen. (switch out lunch for snack, too)

To the tune of the Addams family... "Ba da da dum (snap snap/clap clap), Ba da da dum (snap snap/clap clap), Ba da da dum , Ba da da dum , Ba da da dum (snap snap/clap clap) Oh God is so good & so we think we should Thank him for this food Amen, Amen, Amen Ba da da dum (snap snap/clap clap), Ba da da dum (snap snap/clap clap), Ba da da dum , Ba da da dum , Ba da da dum (snap snap/clap clap)" I know a 50's doo-wop style one, too, from when I did children's ministry in the summers back in college...I will try and remember it & post that too
To "Rock Around the Clock" (I think) "God is Great, God is good So we thank him for our food We're gonna thank him morning noon & night We're gonna thank the Lord, he's outta sight! Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen - ohhh yeahhhh" There's also a ton more here: http://gsleaders.org/files/graces.htm
Thank You Jesus for our food, for our food, for our food. Thank You Jesus for our food, thank You Jesus! tune: Merrily we roll along, roll along... change food to family, friends, etc.
I sang this every day, twice a day, when I taught third grade two years ago. The only difference is at the end we sang "Hallelujah, Amen."
This isn't a western theme but the kids love them. Thank you God for giving us food, Thank you God for giving us food, our daily bread, to keep us fed, Thank you God, (drum roll on lap) for giving us food! (sung to the superman theme) (ch ch ch ch while snapping fingers) (snap through rest of prayer) God is great, God is good, let us thank him for our food. Were gonna thank Him in morning, noon, and night, were gonna thank our God 'cause He's outta site! Thank the Lord for our daily bread. Amen (ch ch ch ch while snapping fingers) Amen! (sung to tune of Rock Around The Clock) Yo ho, yo ho a Christians life for me. Be present at our table Lord, be here and everywhere adored. your mercy's blessd and grant that we be strengthened for eternity. yo ho yo ho a Christians life for me. Amen (sung to the tune of Pirates life for me) We thank the brown cow for the chocolate milk we thank the pig (oinky oinky) for the bacon on the grill. We thank the egg for the chicken and the chicken for the egg, we thank the Lord for our daily bread. Amen (oinky oinky) We also do the Johnny Appleseed prayer. I work at a Christian preschool and the kids love picking a different prayer each day before going out to the lunch tables. There are a lot of kids there who don't go to church or pray before meals, and their parents tell me that their children insist on saying a prayer now before eating. When we have snack, since we are sitting at the table we do a common table prayer - Come Lord Jesus be our guest and let these gifts to us be blessed. Amen
not sung, but recited with arm motions; God made the sun, God made the sea; God made the food and God made me Thank you for the sun Thank you for the sea Thank you for the food and Thank you for me Amen
( I think it's the Tune of Frere Jacques) God our Father, God our Father Once again, Once again Thank you for our food, Thank you for our food, A a men, A a men (Then they say) God is great, God is good, Let us thank him for our food Amen (My children do this at daycare- my 2 year old can do it independently)
