I'm going to a birthday party this Sunday for my friends little girl. She is turning 7. I asked her mom what she needs and of course, she said "nothing". I am wondering what is a good gift for a 7 year old. I want to get her something that she can use this coming up school year. She is going into 2nd grade. She already has a book bag, lunch box, etc. Any suggestions?

If you want stuff she can use for school or homework, why not fun school supplies? Decorated pencils, colored glue, fun stuff like that?

I would get her a book and a giftcard to Staples or Office Max... I LOVED picking out my own school stuff!

Also, silly bands are very popular - just saw loads of new designs at Kroger.

Oh yeah, silly bands. Tie dyed, glow in the dark, smelly ones are ALL the rage.

Get her a giftcard to Justice!!(You can find one in every mall around here.) My 7 year old daughter, and all her friends, LOVE it there!!

Or, if you want a gifty-gift, just about anything tie dyed.

A cool pillow for her bed-- one with a peace symbol or one that looks like a candy bar wrapper, for example.

    Or a diary/journal.

I think gift cards are the way to go; which I love giving and receiving them! Some ideas...theater/movie card, gift card to Barnes & Noble Target gift card, ice cream card, etc...

    Thank you for the responses!

She doesn't have a DS and doesn't like Zhu Zhu pets.

They are a low income family. I'm leaning towards a gift card to Justice or back-to-school supplies in a fun way. Fun looking pencils, folders, etc. They keep copies of the school supply list at the stores, so I'll know what she needs :)

If you do, sign her up for their frequent buyers program; make up a birthday if you're not sure of the actual one.

She'll receive a constant stream of 40% off coupons that make their prices a whole lot more attractive.
