    That's great, goopp!

I lost about 0.6lbs this week; not as much as I would have liked to, but it's my own fault.

    That's great goopp!

I worked out Monday, skipped yesterday, working out tonight for an hour. Weigh in is tonight. I'm not looking forward to it. I think I'm retaining water since its close to that time of the month which will affect the weigh in tonight. And I hate weighing in at night because I feel it doesn't reflect the weight accurately because you've eaten and drank all day. Oh well. :(

This thread has motivated me. I've worked out ten days in a row and have expected to have lost 10 pounds! LOL, yeah right. DH has told me to wait and weigh in two weeks so I won't be disappointed. If I weighed right now I' know I'd be disappointed because I feel like I haven't lost any weight at all. I've dieted steadily too.

Down 3.2 (or maybe 3.4) pounds today!!!

That brings the total to around 8 pounds.

We're going out for a big dinner in NYC tonight, so I'm OK with falling off the wagon just a little bit.

I won't be around tomorrow for my weigh-in so:

    This Week: 1
    Total: 11.5

I'm only down 1 pound this week, but because of what time of the month it is (my apologies to any men participating in the challenge :)) I am okay with this loss.

My weigh in is Sunday, but I have to brag that I've lost 1/2 pound. I'm down to 132, which means I'm closer to my next mini-goal of 131. I bet I'd lose a little faster if I stopped celebrating my successful weigh-ins with food!

Congrats to those of you that have lost. I've neither lost nor gained. I'm not sure if I'm bloated/retaining water because its almost that time of the month or what, but I've worked at for an hour 3 days this week. Next week, I hope that nothing comes up that will make me miss 2 days because I really want to make it all 5 days.

For those of you who are losing weight: how long have you been working out before seeing results on the scale?

It's only been 5 days in the gym for me, but I haven't lost any weight and I'm getting frustrated. I'm going to stick with it because I have friends motivating me, but it just stinks that there are no results on the scale.

It took almost 2 weeks after joining the gym and working out 5 days a week before I started losing. I've worked my way up to riding the stationary bike for 16 miles in about 57 minutes at least 3 days/wk, and strength training 3 days/wk (with at least 30 minutes...7 miles) afterwards. I think the thing that helped me most was starting a food diary (myfitnesspal.com) and inputting every mouthful of food. It's amazing how those calories add up. When I know that I will have to write it down, it keeps me from eating junk.

Keep it up, the weight will start to come off soon. Good luck!

Last night was our big dinner in NYC-- the one I look forward to all year. I didn't go crazy, but I ordered what I wanted.

And I'm STILL down another half pound-- to 137.5 :)

You guys are the best... I would never have started this without you!!

Down to 162! That's five pounds since I started, but I have no clue how much was in the past week since I couldn't weight in last week. This next few months will be rough, as we will not be getting home until after 8 each night, so we'll end up doing fast food.

goopp~thanks! I was thinking it would take about that long to start seeing anything. I'll reach the two week mark this week so hopefully I'll start seeing some changes. I know this week I'm going to try to start going 5x/wk and hopefully nothing gets in the way.

STG-stick with it! TOM is a factor. Plus, it can take awhile for the results. Sometimes how clothes fit can be a good indicator of success, too.(when the scale doesn't seem to move down!!)

Another 1.5 down. 9 lbs down so far.

Again, I keep telling myself...It took me 4-5 years to put this weight ON, it's going to take a while for it to come OFF

Well my first week I lost 6.5 pounds. In a week. While I kept telling myself that I cannot expect those results every week, I still stay a little hopeful, lol!

I'm happy with my weigh in, esepcially since I ate out twice, and one of those times I KNOW I went over my calories for the day!

Well, I only lost 0.6 lbs this week but I'm not too upset. My total for January is 5 lbs! That's not too bad. I got a bunch of new workout gear so I hope this week will net me a good loss at my next weigh in!

Just got off the treadmill (only 2.5km, but it's a start)--I HATE exercise! Made big grocery runs yesterday and today, so the fridge and cupboards are ready for the week.

I'm replying to my own initial post at the start of the month, because I really can't believe I hit my goal of losing 3 pounds! Congratulations to me!!!! So, theoretically, if I stay on track, I should be at 129 by the end of February. Wow. I haven't been in the 120's in 8 years.

    Weight today: 132

    Congrats, Special-t!

I was hoping for 10 pounds this month and, if I step on the scale tomorrow morning, I may have met it (was at 9 on Friday). I'm thrilled with 10 pounds/month and would love to keep up that pace. I know that may not be possible, but I'll be thrilled if I am close to 50 pounds lighter by the end of the school year at the end of June.

Keep it up everyone! We are all doing so well. It takes a lot of effort to keep up with our food, cook healthy meals, and get in the exercise that we need...but I love coming on here and hearing how well everyone is doing. Even when we don't lose, our attitudes are great and that really keeps me going.

Rode 17 miles on the bike today...I have class tomorrow night so I won't get to the gym, but I'll make up for it Tuesday. I've done my strength workout 3 days this week and my heavy cardio 3 times (one of those was on the same day). If I can keep it up and keep counting those calories, I'll be where I want to be by this time next year. It was fun going to Dick's yesterday and buying new workout clothes, now I just want to wear them out so I can buy smaller ones next time.

I just emailed a guy on craigslist about an elliptical he has for sale. It's a REALLY cheap one, at a REALLY cheap price, so I'll be surprised if he has it, but my fingers are crossed! So much better than a treadmill!

I have been horrible about weighing in or even looking at this thread! I have lost about 3 pounds overall this past month; however, I have gained a lot of muscle mass.

I have felt a difference in most of my pants and can even fit into a pair of my 16's again. I am much stronger than I was when I started lifting weights at the gym the week of Christmas.
*I couldn't do any situps then, and now I can (I did 10 yesterday!).
*I couldn't bench press the bar at the beginning, and now I am adding a little bit of weight to the bar (and can do it!)
*I have been doing squats, and started off with a 20lb barbell, and now am up the the 45lb.
*I ran two miles on the elliptical at home this morning in about 15 minutes, before my calves cramped up too much to go on. But if they hadn't, I could have kept going.
So I am feeling pretty cool about stuff! It's slow progress, but that is better, in the long run. Small changes, rather than drastic, and I will be able to keep it up long term.

Great progress, myangel!!! Keep up the good work!

I think that's why I'm not seeing a decrease in weight on the scale is because I'm gaining muscle. I do cardio and weight training and I guess the weight training is working better than the cardio right now.
