Happy New Year Everyone!! A few A-Z members have been talking about weight loss and since nobody had posted to the Biggest Loser 2009-2010 thread since October I thought I'd start a new one to get us all motivated. Join in any time.

Pick a weigh in day and on that day post number of lbs lost. You can also add tips or questions to help us all stay on track.

I'm in! I can't wait! Now to try to find my scale...

Any brave people want to do headless body shots to show off the inches lost?

Good Idea MissC but I'm not sure I'm that brave. Maybe I will take some before pics and if I lose enough I'll take some after pics and then post them together.

I'm in--I'll weigh in on Fridays. Not sure if I'm ready for making pictures public, but I should probably take a couple for me.

The progression of pics is a good idea; I'm not ready to post my starting weight publicly; let's just say I have a lot more to lose than you do.

I am in too. I am already weighing in on Tuesdays. I dilingently weighed in every Tuesday all December, and watched myself gain back the 10 lbs it took all of September, October, and November to lose.

I am trying to do mini goals, so my goals for the next couple of weeks is to eat slower by putting my fork down between bites, and to cut out all processed ingredients in my beverages, so that I am only drinking water, hot tea with stevia or honey, milk, and maybe some natural fruit juice.

    Starting weight: 135
    Goal weight: 125

    Weigh in day: Sundays
My weigh-ins will be somewhat anti-climactic because I'll only be losing about 3 pounds per month.

My goal is to lose 10 pounds in 90 days. I'm on day 87 of a 1000-1200 calorie per day diet. I have to mostly stick with 1000 calories to meet my 90 day goal, but I've given myself that 200 calorie leeway a few times a week.

I'm very curious to see where I'll be in 90 days.

I want to play too :p! I'm actually very proud of myself, I kept to my diet even through the holidays. Had some health scares lately so I really need to make some changes.

    Could use the motivation! :thumb:

I've been working on it so I'm in too! I like to lose two pounds a week so I try to maintain a 1000 calorie deficit per day. Usually I eat around 1400 calories because I burn about 2400 calories a day. I'm trying not to think about my whole goal, but right now I'm trying to lose about 30 pounds (I managed to lose about 20 from the beginning of October to now, so hopefully I can lose the 30 pounds by about the middle of May).

I'M IN!! I started my diet on Jan.1st and it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. The hardest part is not nibbling between my meals. I'm waiting 4 hours between meals as suggested by Jillian(from the Biggest Loser). I am eating mostly vegetables and proteins, fruits and minimal carbs. I find it hard to keep myself from overeating carbs when I eat it, so I'm limiting it. I am also writing down everything that I eat. I had lost 60 lbs from March 2009 until October, but I went back to my old eating habits and gained 12 lbs from October to Jan. 1:eek:.

    Weigh in day: Friday
Weight to lose: 38 lbs by the end of May

I'm going out to dinner tonight, which is always a challenge. I looked ahead on the menu and found they have a vegetable skewer. So, I'll be having that and a glass of red wine (and a few chicken wings if I can pull off the skin).

I would like to join. I NEED to join. I think the interaction with others will give me the motivation I need!

My long-term goal is to lose 125 pounds. What would be a reasonable immediate goal? I need to set goals along the way so I don't give up completely...it's happened before.

By the way, my husband and I have started changing our eating habits and we've cut out soft drinks.

I started a blog tonight. I'm going to keep a record of my experience along the way. Again, I'm trying everything I can to stay motivated.

I think I'll weigh in on Saturday. That would be the best day for me at this point.

    OK, I'm in too.

I'll weigh in on Sundays, starting today: 143. Ouch.
I would love to lose 10-15 pounds.

But I'm not good at long term weight loss goals; I'm a wimp and I give in too fast. So I'm taking it in tiny steps. My first goal is to break 140.

ST, for you it will be a whole lot trickier.

How about this as a goal: Keeping your pregnancy weight gains to within the parameters your OB-GYN suggests? That way, after the twins are born, you don't have an extra 50 lbs of weight to lose?

Alice, your starting point is just below my goal weight! (Sigh...)

I've done well the last 2 days. I'm diligently writing down everything I eat and trying to include more protein and fewer carbs. I'm also trying to eliminate as much processed food from my diet as I can. The real challenge will be when I go back to work tomorrow; I tend to "nibble" when working on paperwork--such a huge part of my job. Oh well, one day at a time. I'd really like to lose 10 pounds in January; I think it's possible with some hard work.

We're all programmed differently, you know that.

This is within a few pound of the heaviest I've ever been-- I've always been pretty thin, as are all my sisters and my brother.

But I know that large goals simply won't do it for me. I'm NOT going to walk a mile every day-- it's January and there's a wind chill below zero today; it simply will not happen.

I think that just whittling down the weight will work better for me. I admire those of you with larger visions.

I love how I'm seeing people trying to eat fewer carbs, and my doctor told me it was important for me to eat more carbs, just the right kind of carbs. It's always amazing to me how many different ways there are to accomplish the same exact thing!

I am doing portion control. I won't deprive myself of the foods I love, but I will eat a third of what I was consuming before. Wish me luck! Plus I have begun weight training and cardio on a CONSISTENT basis. That will be key!

I'd like to lose 30 lbs by June. Breaking it down, it's just a bit better than 1 lb a week. I'll go back to weight watchers online, cut out as much processed food as possible, snack on fruits and veggies rather than chips, and reduce the carbs to the high fiber/whole grain ones only. Friday will be my weigh in day.

    Good luck to all!

I've been drinking more water (well, tea-but I make it with tea bags and water-so I consider it water)-I actually gave up my Diet Coke . Eating more veggies and grains-found a whole aisle in our local market of different grains to try. I have to start not eating after 6:00 which is hard for me. Nothing like snacking on something while watching tv. And exercising more-I think I'm going to walk around our track at school when the kids are at recess.

I lost 60 lbs in 7 months just by cutting out processed foods and eating mostly vegetables, proteins, some fruits and minimal carbs (I did have a small portion of carbs with every meal though). I drank nothing but water and tea. I probably had about 15 cheat days in those 7 months too -- I ate anything and everything on these days (all day long, lol).

Congrats, Proud! I could, literally, live on carbs, but they do cause me to crash and burn. I'm trying for a healthier balance. Right now, I am eating the most delicious lunch--one which I'll repeat tomorrow--a whole wheat tortilla spread with 1/4 of a mashed avocado, topped with 2 slices of low-fat turkey, baby romaine and spinach and diced tomatoes! Yum!

I am going to the store right now before the snow gets too bad. I like to take Torilla factory tortillas and spread on some hummus. Then, I add some broccoli slaw and roll it up. If I don't have any broccoli slaw I will just chop up some veggies and roll it up. I found that you really have to be careful with tortillas because there are some great ones out there but some have way too many calories and fat!

Would someone be willing to post a sample daily menu to give us an idea of something that has been working well?

Alice~I'm the same way with long term goals. So my mini goals will be to get to 135 by mid Feb and to exercise consistantly for 6 weeks. I'm thinking weight training MWF and cardio TTh.

    Proud~congrats on losing 60 lbs!!

    MrsC~that sounds really good!

I'm thinking for breakfast, 2 slices of peanut butter toast and a banana, lunch- salads, and for dinner to just try to cook more than we eat out. Alot of this will be so much easier when dh leaves for AZ.
and I am not cutting out my soda. I'll cut down on it but not completely...just can't do it! I'm also joining a gym! It'll give me something to do while dh is gone.
