I have spent the last few hours updating my classroom website to promote summer learning. Are there are fantastic 2nd-grade appropriate websites that I am leaving out? (I also do not want to overwhelm parents with too many ideas.) Here is what I have:

    Websites for all areas:
    Fun Brain
    Sheppard Software
    ABCya

    Summer reading:
Pebble Go! (my district has a subscription)
    Between the Lions
    Spelling city
Bookflix (my district has a subscription)
Trueflix (my district has a subscription)
    Tumblebooks
    National Geographic Young Explorer

    Summer Writing:
    Story Jumper
    Kids on the Net
    Summer journal ideas

    Summer Math:
    Math Playground
    IXL Learning
    Fact Monster Online Flashcards
    Addition Games
    Subtraction Games
    Math Magician Addition
    Math Magician Subtraction

Could you add a link to your local library (especially if they have a Summer Reading Program!)?

Also, here are some links I put on my class website to help encourage students to keep reading:

    Scholastic Summer Challenge - http://www.scholastic.com/summer/

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program (students can earn a free book) - http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/summer-reading/379003570

iVillage Summer Reading Community Challenge (with discounts and free downloads) - http://www.ivillage.com/challenges/summerreading/signup

Book Adventure (kids can take quizzes on books they read and earn prizes) - http://www.bookadventure.com/Home.aspx

Pottery Barn Summer Reading Challenge (kids can qualify for fun prizes) - http://www.potterybarnkids.com/design-studio/articles/summer-reading-challenge.html

Book It Summer Break Reading Challenge (kids who read 5 books get entered into a sweepstakes to win a Diary of a Wimpy Kid package) - http://bookitprogram.com/SummerBreak/default.html
