I think that my best memory of 2008 will be going to Prince Edward Island with my daughter's soccer team when they competed in the National Championships.

My husband finishing his degree, and giving my 2-week notice at my part-time job! Now, after 5+ years, I can go back to focusing on being the best wife/mother/teacher I can be!

A week in Disney World with my husband and 3 kids. We got a PIN code in January that allowed us 40% off our accomodations. As a result, we upgraded to the Polynesian-- a deluxe resort on the monorail line.

I became a little psychotic with planning (mostly to avoid thinking of my medical issues.) As a result, I knew all sorts of little things. We had personalized menus and a scuba diver with a sign at the Coral Reef in Epcot. We had Misty Mate misters to help with the August heat. We had dollar store ponchos for the rain. We did a photopass share with my sister and my friend and preordered for the discount-- the Photopass that should cost $120 cost us each $33.

Overall the year was the pits, but Disney was incredible!

Wasn't so sure at the beginning of 2008 that anything good would happen...now I have quite a list! :)
    1. My dad's lymphoma is gone!! He is back to his spunky self!
    2. I finally got hired full-time!
    3. My husband and I bought land and are planning on building a house.
    4. My brother got engaged and I'm going to be in the wedding.
    5. My sister is pregnant!! I'm going to be an aunt!

Really, 2008 turned out to be a year full of blessings for my family...even though it started out rough (and ended rough...two funerals in the last 2 months). But the good far outweighs the bad!!!

Not only did I land my first full-time teaching job, I also got my first note from a student declaring me her favorite teacher. This girl works her butt off for me, so I take it as a double honor.

    I found this board! ;)

Alice- Was it crowded when you went? I went in June and it was amazing how little people were there!! Our longest wait was maybe 15 minutes.

    It was crowded, but do-able.

On the day we went to Hollywood studios, some psychopath decided we should do laundry first. So we got there too late to even Fastpass Toystory Mania... and waited 90 minutes for it. Let's just say it wasn't our finest hour.

Other than that, we didn't wait more than 20 minutes for anything.

The BEST was our last day. Tropical Storm Faye was due to arrive in Orlando. We got a phone call the night before letting us know that all the resorts would open at 8 am, anticipating an early closure. We were at the Magic Kingdom at rope drop, along with maybe 300 other people. It was amazing!!!! We walked right onto rides all day long. The weather was fine-- drizzley and gusty, but no big deterrant. We rode everything we wanted, over and over again!!!

For the most part this year sucked; however, two big events happened in my family:

    1: My nephew was born.
    2. My mom was placed on the transplant list for a new kidney. This is a huge deal as she wasn't even supposed to live to see me get married in October 2006. Now, her disease is in remission. We're hoping she gets The Call this year.

My "Happiest thing" may seem sad to some, but it isn't. My mother passed away in December. She passed knowing that her family loved her. The happiest thing was that we had time to say goodbye, and that nothing was left unsaid.

I completely understand. My mom died and I had no regrets she and I had a great relationship and did so much together. She knew how much I loved her. I am sure your mother was so happy to have you with her at the end.

I was/am happy she was no longer in pain, but I was in pain losing her.

Rain, I also know how you feel. I would never regret the time I took to help care for my father and everytime he called for me I was running. Those memories are still precious to me and he has been deceased for 16 yrs now. I am happy to have peace in my home.

Rain, I've been there too with my dad.

But I'm amazed that, after so short a time, you can see that as a good thing.

We're all here if you ever just want to reminisce about mom.

Good Alice. It was hard for him staying on his eating plan on our vacation. It was a salt mine everywhere we went. He did pretty good though. Not perfect but good. I, on the other hand found 5 pounds.

He is feeling good though and goes back for another stent in mid January.

    Thank you for asking, Alice.
