Ok so I'm ready to read everything I can about behavior and classroom management and am interested in your recommendations of things to read. I already know the typical Harry Wong "First Days" book and Fred Jones "Tools for Teaching"...apparently there's an Adam Waxley book...? And is it Rick Morris? Others that I haven't mentioned that you think are awesome? (yes I said awesome)
I highly recommend these, in no particular order. Conflict in the Classroom Nicholas Long and others Classroom Management That Works: Research-Based Strategies for Every Teacher ROBERT J. MARZANO, JANA S. MARZANO, DEBRA J. PICKERING Principles of Classroom Management: A Professional Decision-Making Model (3rd Edition) James Levin James Nolan James F. Nolan Fires in the Bathroom: Advice for Teachers from High School Students (Hardcover) by Kathleen Cushman (Author), Lisa Delpit (Introduction), Students of What Kids Can Do (Author)
who is that? If you want to get an idea of my classroom management approach I have a couple of free resources you can take a look at and decide for yourself... You can try out my 5-part classroom management e-course @ www.Classroom-Management-Tips.com You can take a look at my blog: www.Teaching-Tips-Machine.com/blog. I have been making lots of posts lately about classroom management...particularly how to handle minor disturbances without escalating the problem. I also have several articles written here: www.Teaching-Tips-Machine.com/education_articles.htm. There are a few related to classroom management. Hope that helps, Adam Waxler
My greatest apologies. So very sorry (inserting foot into mouth) but yes I'll be purchasing your materials! Thanks!
