So I accepted a job in March in a district about 4 hours from me. The area has opened a new hospital as well and I can not find a place to live up there, especially pet friendly. If I ask to be released from my contract (contract start date is not until august) what are the ramifications? I am in CA by the way.

Have you asked for assistance? They might have some ideas where other teachers live and could get the ball rolling before August.

I would assume this would a case-by-case situation. In my state, there are certain codes that pertain to breaking a contract, but it really depends on which district and the situation on how such occurrence is handled.
