Is anyone familiar with Being a Writer? We are piloting it next year and I am curious to know your experiences with it.

I teach 5th grade, but I have been using Being a Writer and Making Meaning for several years. I really like the programs. Being a Writer comes with several books to read aloud that showcase the genre of writing you are doing. The manuals are scripted, but fit perfectly with the writing workshop approach.
When we switched to Reading Street, I missed BAW and MM very much. I am so glad that with common core, we are allowed to use these programs again.

I do like that it is a workshop approach. This is my first year doing writer´s workshop and my kids have produced some of the best writing I have ever produced at this geade level. I am pleased to hear you like the program. Thanks for your insight.
