My school's theme this year is "Recipe to Success" and although I won't be carrying it out in my classroom, I want to reflect it on the bulletin board outside of my door.

I would love to use sweets (cupcakes, donuts, etc...) but can't think of anything cool. I don't want to just stick a bunch of generic cupcakes cut-outs up. Any ideas? I teach 3rd grade ELA.

Umm I don't want to sound stupid, but what is ELA? Is that like English as a second language? Or Language Arts? It might be cool to have the kids take pictures of their typical dishes. Or have them use construction paper to make an example of a dish?

What do you usually use the board for? Will it hold student work or is it just decorative? I'm thinking of several different ideas but they all depend on how you use the board.

Sorry, English Language Arts. I teach reading and writing only. :)

I need something on the board for orientation, so I wouldn't have pictures up just yet.

It would just be decorative (with student names) at the start of the year, but eventually would showcase work.

What about a title something like, "We've mixed a great batch of students", then write the kids' names on cutouts of cookies.

Great job Ted! I love the Smart Cookies one--it could be set up as decorative and very easy to just slide completed work on it once you have it completed.

I was just thinking Smart Cookies, lol!

You could do an acronym with P.I.E.S. or C.A.K.E.S.

    Something about the "Sweet Life."

Just brainstorming - sorry it's not more - I'm tired, lol!

You could do a play on like Top Chefs with Chefs hats to put their work in.

You guys are awesome! I'm heading to bed (early workshop in the morning) but I'll revisit this thread in the morning. I'm feeling so inspired now! :D

Super cute! You have a wonderful bb!

(Makes me hungry for cookies. And, now I can't stop singing "C is for Cookie" in my head...)
