Happy summer! I'm looking for ideas to do with a baseball theme for my (will be) 1st grade summer school class. It will probably only be a week long, or less, theme. Academic and non-academic ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Making baseball cards is always fun. :) Have the kids bring baseball equipment and clothes. Take digital photos of them posing pitching, catching, hitting, etc. My kids get pretty creative: taping a ball to the bat to make it look like it's been hit, climbing up and reaching over a fence to make it look like they've snatched up a near home run, sliding into base, diving for a ball, etc. The front of the card is the picture and the back can be filled in with some simple dream statistics or used for other things, such as a baseball story they've written or a summary of a baseball story they read or listened to.

I usually make them 4X6 so there is more room to work on them. To decorate them, the kids can draw and color; draw, cut, and glue; or use stickers (boughten or made). :)
