I have seen Bare Minerals make-up on QVC. It looks like good stuff. Just curious to see if any of you all have used it or know someone who uses it and likes it.
I did use it and loved it...it just got a bit expensive for me. I tried the new ones that you can buy in the stores now (can't remember the by whom? Maybe Loreal?) Anyhow; it was ok; now I'm using ULTA - Mineral Powder Foundation that I order online from Houston really cheap (on sale about $8). It's great! I just can't go back to using foundation anymore...I am such a "sweaty-face" and the foundation just runs off or looks weird.
I love Bare Minerals. I also cannot go back to foundation. I really never liked foundation and never wore it. Bare Minerals is very light and is very easy to wear. I know that you can probably look at Sephora. I bought a couple of items from Sephora at the mall.
I like the feel of it, but I can't get a color that's exactly right for me, and it doesn't cover the redness of my face like I'd like, even with more than one application. I do prefer it over liquid foundation in hot weather.
I love it! I just use some concealer under my eyes and then the minerals....perfect, not heavy, or thick. I have to order from QVC, since I am not close to anywhere that sells it. It is a little expensive - but so worth it.
I really like it too. I'm not a big make up wearer!! But I really like this because it doesn't feel like you have it on!!! Check spas in your area. They may carry it & may use it to do your face. I know the local spa that carries it has make up classes to do on weekends. I've never been to the class, but after having a massage there they do your face in the make up!!! Hubby bought it for me for Xmas last year!!! It is a little expensive, but I think it is more so at first because you have to buy all the brushes as well!!!
I bought mine online at the bare escentuals website. I got the start up kit that has all the brushes and make-up for about seventy dollars. I bought the rare minerals night stuff and I really like it.
I was just at the Florida Mall today and there is a Bare Escentuals store. It was PACKED, so maybe another time.
I love Bare Minerals, it is the only makeup I use. I buy it at Sephora. It lasts a long time. It doesn't look like you are wearing any makeup, it just looks natural!!! Hey, maybe I should be on one of those infomercials!!!
I love Bare Minerals. I bought them first on line in the kit. The private beauty supply stores in the area carry them. I can never go back to foundation either.
I also love Bare Minerals! :wow: It is the only thing that will cover redness for me. Just these past few days here, it has been SO humid, and I had some get togethers. I had the Bare Minerals on and I barely felt it. I think the key is to play around with it. I follow the directions, but I use certain steps out of order. It covers better for me that way. If you are at all considering it and you have had issues with ANY kind of make up in the past, I would highly recommend it. I never break out any more, and I feel natural, just like the infomercial says. Good luck.
A guys point of view... First let me preface this with I am a guy and have no idea if it is any good to wear, use etc... but my wife loves it, she has been using it for years and spent a fortune on it she has a whole mak up case of just this stuff. She has been using it since before it was on QVC... I know this because I had to wait up with her the first time it was on because she was sooo excited going to be on QVC. (I dont remember any of the stuff I only remember the whole crushed rock blah blah blah story she told me about it). She looks pretty and it makes her happy so it must be good stuff.
I use it, but it doesn't cover like I'd like. At the same time, traditional foundations covers, but is somewhat thick and obvious - even the best kind. I just have marks from acne and whatnot, so I'm not the average client...I'm pretty difficult in that sense, and so I don't expect it to cover everything and still be natural. I do love the blush, which just WON'T run out...that stuff seems never ending.
I've been using it for about 5 years now. I love it! But I only use the foundation products. The eye shadow, blush, etc are really nice, but it's just too expensive to use the whole line. I have a BE store in the mall where I live, so I shop there. And they give you a stamp card that gives you $10 when you fill up all the stamps. Mind, you have to spend $120 to get all the stamps...
I just bought the starter kit and used it yesterday for the first day of school. I have really dry skin so I was a little worried about using powder make up but it stayed on and didn't flake at all. I think the key for me is the lotion that comes with it.
I love bare minerals. Have been using it for about a year. I would say if you have dry skin and if you use the lotion stuff you will be fine. I also recommend the Buki brush if you want better coverage - my skin gets red in the winter and i like the fuller coverage.
The blah blah blah part is the best. Isn't that just like a husband? Mine would ask, "She puts bare what on her face?" He has no idea.
Thank you, MissFrizzle, JustMe and teacherintexas. Someone should tell my wife  she doesnt think I ever pay attention.
I use everyday minerals, which I love! Also, if you go to their website (everydayminerals dot com) they send a free sample pack that is really awesome! I got five different products free a few months ago, and still have some left! These are no stingy little samples, they are more than enough for a month or so of trying the product to see if it really works.
I have used it for a week now and my skin feels better than ever! It has stayed on even in the heat of my oven of a classroom and during recess too. I'm getting addicted.
I bought a starter kit a few weeks ago at a local Ulta store. It was $60 for three brushes, two colors of base, setting powder, blush and a suntan color. I like it, and my daughters (15 and 19) tell me everytime I have it on how pretty I look. I don't know about that, but it's been nice!
My problem with these things is how to pick the right color without spending a fortune on various shades beforehand? I've just found the right color with L'Oreal's new True Match Super Blendable Makeup. Their little plastic guide in the stores, where they say hold it over your wrist (but not touching) to find the shade that disappears, was really helpful but it still took me three tries (read: $30) before I found the one that didn't make me look like I've been out in the sun for too long. Their translucent mineral finishing powder was not translucent on my skintone and reminded me of baby powder...$15 baby powder.
Also, I love that the mineral makeup is healthy...maybe I don't have to worry about increasing my chances of getting cancer just because I want to look really nice when I leave in the morning. I've checked the ingredients in the other non-mineral stuff and they are just scary. I couldn't believe the stuff they put in it...like L'Oreal uses animal urine for brown color (really!) and there are cancerous fragrances in my facial cream. And I thought that the animal testing battle had been won in the 80s and 90s but these companies are apparently still putting animals through the wringer so we can feel pretty! Anyway, I found out more about what was in my cosmetics, etc. because there's a database run by a non-profit organization in DC that keeps track of these things called, Skin Deep.
I finally finished up my trial-sized foundations, and I bought two colors--light and fairly light--an found that if I mix them I get the color I need. I also use a tinted moisturizer, which helps some with the redness issue. I get lots of compliments on my makeup, so I guess it looks better than I think it does.
Hi, Little 317! I found that out at that database I mentioned, Skin Deep. I was looking up my foundation, L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable blah blah blah, and one of the ingredients (it says this on the bottle itself too) is Diazolidinyl Urea. You can look up each ingredient in the database by clicking on it and so I did. This is what it said... This ingredient may be derived from animals. From PETA's Caring Consumer: Excreted from urine and other bodily fluids. In deodorants, ammoniated dentifrices, mouthwashes, hair colorings, hand creams, lotions, shampoos, etc. Used to "brown" baked goods, such as pretzels. Derivatives: Imidazolidinyl Urea, Uric Acid. Alternatives: synthetics. Now, when I read the name of the ingredient I was curious in the first place, since urea is basically just the scientific name for what makes urine urine (and is also in ammonia). By the way, I think they just have to say it may be derived from animals as some sort of legal coverall. It's pretty definitely then animal urine. For example, for gelatin (in my skin cream), they also say may be derived from animals though there is no form of non-animal gelatin, which is extracted from cow bones. Can you believe they also use it to brown baked goods like pretzels? Talk about Beyond nasty.
