This is just something I wanted to share. I believe this is one of the biggest flaws in society. You are hard workers, make a difference, and should be compensated. Thanks for reading.

10 of 12 your on your ass
Just grasping at opportunities to stimulate your mind
    But it never comes.
Nothing more than a trained monkey.
    The repetition is numbing.
Almost hopping for malfunction so you have something to do.
They say we need this product to survive,
    At least in America.
    I'm a number, I make no impact,
I only dream of being remembered, I'm wealthy.

Blank to blank your on your feet.
A set schedule? Must be nice.
So much to accomplish, so little day.
I can not turn my brain off.
    The kids...
Will they understand? Are they eating tonight? What can I do better?
I've been at this for 8 years,
If given 800 I would still be perfecting my trade.
    At times I'm overwhelmed.
The fact is, the future depends on me.
    Scoff at my summers off,
Honestly, you know you wouldn't last a week.
I'm a mentor, I'm that parent they have only dreamed of,
    I'm an educator, I'm broke.

The war on education is having a HUGE impact on our public schools. I live in NJ and Governor Christie has decimated the teacher's union. I just read the news that half of the schools in Camden are closing down, and over 50% of the educators who teach there are going to be let go. The children are going to be going to the newly built charter schools next year.

The public is just as bad. Yes, there are people who respect teachers. It just seems that there are more people who despise teachers because they get a nice pension, have health care, get summers off, and are able to acquire tenure. Let's not forget that teaching is supposedly easy. :(
