    Hi, all!

Okay, my student teaching assignment is going great so far. My cooperating teacher and I have similar philosophies, get along, and generally agree with each other. Tuesday was the first day for the students. When I arrived (early) at 6:45, I found the biggest surprise of my life! On both the teacher's desk and mine were bud vases with single long stemmed roses, with notes saying Welcome Back to School -- Have a Great Year! I was floored! Anyone else have such a generous and caring administration?

The part that REALLY surprised me is the fact that I am a STUDENT TEACHER, and not one of their paid professionals, yet I was and have continued to be treated as just that, a professional! This school has a number of challenged students in their over 1100 population (pre-K-8). In fact, it has been used many times as a "dumping ground" for students no one else wants. That being said, I find the teachers, administrators and even SUPPORT staff always to be professional, pleasant, and willing to help. Amazing!

It sounds as though you are in a really great environment, with a staff that is super supportive! That is the way it is supposed to be!

    Enjoy it!!

    Any positions open?? :)

We got a bag of candy and then a book of coupons for things (provided by admin team) like, and extra half hour after lunch, a free breakfast, a get out of work 15 minutes early, a lesson to be taught, and some other things that do not come to mind. It was thoughtful and unique.

We get lots of things, but mostly they like to treat us to breakfast or an after school social hour with snacks. The other evening, after a long meeting writing a school improvement plan, the principal treated me to dinner and a beer at a local restaurant! We had a great time talking about anything but school.

I like that idea, too! LOL It wouldn't work well for me right now, though, because I am averaging 11 hours a day!

My district always gives us something with our logo on it... One year the power went out in all the schools a few times, so we got flashlights. Actually, last year we didn't get anything and people really noticed.

We always get a bag with the school logo on it and the bag is full of useful goodies. They include pens, constrction paper, highlighters, notepads, Post-Its, etc.
