Please pray for our son to have a healthy arrival when the doctor's agree that he needs to be born.

We are 35 weeks along and mmy blood pressure keeps rising. Our OB has us taking my blood pressure 2x a day and today the bottom number was 104 so upon calling the OB he had us going to Labor & Delivery.

Further testing showed that the enzymes in my liver are high and I was admitted to the hospital around 3 PM today. These are symptoms of preeclampsia, for which I have been monitored for about 4-5 weeks.

The only "cure" is delivery. Liam is a healthy sized boy already, but of course I worry that my husband and I are not ready -- but I suppose we never will feel 100% ready.

I'm sitting in the little hospital room feeling down because tonight was our child care class... and they wouldn;t allow me to go. I feel terrible that James had to go with out me....

Please send prayers our way.. thanks.

    You've got those prayers, Star.

You'll figure out the child care; the huge majority of it is common sense.

And you won't be "ready" for a good 18 years yet.

I'd say a bit longer than 18 years, Alice!

Starista--you, James and your precious baby Liam are in my thoughts and prayers.

Prayers for you and Liam. At 35 weeks, baby Liam is as likely to be just fine as any full term baby, although with some additional medical care at the beginning. I've known dozens of babies born at that age who go home within a few days. Good luck!

Babies come when they feel like it! I know a mom who had her 1st baby at 34 weeks (pre-eclamsia, too) and he is just fine now. The timing on the other hand wasn't - the 2nd day of the school year! That's tough ;)

My first was born just shy of 5 weeks early. He came on his terms - certainly not mine! He's 7 now, and I swear it's been his timing since! My prayers are headed your direction, but take joy that in just a little while you'll be holding a bundle of joy in your arms! My thoughts are with you guys!

    You all have my prayers.
The docs know what's best for you & baby at this point.
Sis had some of these issues... baby born early & doing great!!!
It's scary, but they do know what's best for the 2 of you!!!
Like someone said...being "ready" is a cliche'!!! LOL!!!

Prayers & hugs to all of you!!!

I am so anxious to hold him, it isn't even funny.

My husband went to child care class last night by himself. When it was over he rushed back upstairs to my hospital room looking incredibly flustered. He took TEN pages of notes and the first thing he blurted out was "I had to do the introduction when they ask to tell about yourself, you always do that for us, and it's hard to be put on the spot!!!!!!" I burst into tears at that moment because throughout this often challenging pregnancy I have falling deeper in love with James that I ever imaged possible.

He was so animated when he talked about umbilical cord care, sponge baths, and diaper cream.

I am incredibly lucky to have such an amazing husband and father to my son. :)

As for this morning, all is ok -- but wont know more until around 3 or 4. Liver enzymes still elevated but they took blood and will know more later.

I appreciate all of your prayers so much. :hugs:

Yes, I know it's truly best to go 40 weeks.
37 weeks is technically full term, but every single day is crucial and makes a huge difference. They went ahead and took my nephew out at 37 weeks and he was considered 100% full term, no NICU, normal everything. My niece was 34 weeks and there was a huge difference as she had to go to NICU and it was a hard process.

I post on pregnancy boards and some women have recently had their babies at 27 and 29 weeks.
We're thankful for all the medical and technology advancements as these babies are really doing amazing considering they were born so early.

Each week is truly a milestone and makes a world of difference.

I was born 5 weeks early and I turned out just fine :) I think that might be why I have the constant need to be early for everything. I hate being late!

You and Liam are in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully everything is still just fine. My daughter was born at 32 weeks after wanting to come 4 weeks before that. She's 7 now and we have never had more than what any full term baby has had to deal with.

Okay that story about your husband had my eyes misting too. How sweet. He's definitely excited too. It's so great to live in a generation where fathers are encouraged to know the ins and outs of all of this and be involved as much as they are.

I am sending you vibes for a healthy delivery. That's all that really matters. The rest will come. There are so many "I'm not ready for it" moments along the way but in some ways that's what keeps us growing.

    Ha ha yes!

I am seriously nesting though. I am sitting in bed finishing a cup of yogurt and my eyes are darting around the bedroom looking at so much clutter. Usually - that would not bother me one bit!!! :)

We see our perinatal OB today at 1:30. We may have more answers then! I slept wonderfully last night which is great.

And... I am NOT thinking about SCHOOL which is difficult for me. As some of you know, my mom is a retired teacher so she was covering my class. I teach in a delightful Christian school and they've been so so good to me. My Mama's last day with the kids is Fri. and then the maternity sub comes in. My Mom and my principal (who is a godsend) explained to the class that my Mom needs to help take care of ME until Liam is born.

Well, one of my boys had a confused look and said "But wait... if Mrs. W's mom is taking care of her... who's taking care of Mr. W!?!?" James loved that story. :)

Ok, back to bed I go.

    Thank you again.

I'm glad you have a good support system both at home and at work. Your little student is precious. That made me laugh.

Now, one more "mom" moment from me. Lean on your sidelines buddy. That's what she's there for.

As of tonight, Thursday, Liam will not be born this week!

Our OB called at 2 PM and said that while my liver enzymes were still elevated, he was mostly worried about what my platelet count was as he is concerned about something called HELLP Syndrome.

My platelet count came back perfect, and so, he decided I could stay bedresting at home. :)

I go back to see him tomorrow at 9 AM for more fun blood work.

Thanks for all your support and prayers! My Mom spent the whole day with me and we washed and folded all of Liam's blankets, sheets, and size NB clothes in the Dreft and they're all put away just waitingf or him!

Great news Starista! I am so happy for you. I know bed rest isn't the most pleasant of things, but considering all, this is wonderful.
