Hi, I want to teach a unit on Dear Mr. Henshaw and wanted the students to write letters to the author Beverly Cleary. I know she is 93 years old now, but does anyone know if her publisher or fan club would respond to her letters? Has anyone ever heard from her?

If she does not, does anyone know any authors who actually respond to letters?

    Thanks!

When my son was in elementary school, there was an Ohio author who responded to student letters. Also, he came to visit the school (Piqua). I don't remember his name - I think I could dig through my son's stuff, if you're interested. The author (a guy) wrote historical stories (I think! It's been a while!).

I've had responses from Janet Stevens and Jan Brett. Janet actually hosted a Flat Stanley for me and took him to Mexico with her on vacation. She sent back some nice pictures and a letter.
