I finally got my long-awaited social studies position, but it comes tagged with ELA (I've taught SS, math, and science up until this point). I've got ELA friends for advice as well, but I don't want to bother them right now in the middle of summer break with a bunch of questions. I'm extremely organized and I like for my classroom, plans, etc. to be completely ready to go on day 1. For social studies they will have a binder interactive notebook. What should I have them get for language arts? Should I have a binder? Should I have composition books? Should I have a 3 subject notebook? What do you do with regard to student organization? The position is for 6th or 7th grade ELA/SS, I won't know the exact grade level for a couple of weeks, but I want to get the bare bones organized in the meantime.
