Do you know of any free assessments to use at the beginning of the year to assess where your students are?

I am aware of the BEAR test for spelling.

Are there any free math assessments that align to your state standards?

NC DPI has a released version of the end of grade test on it. I teach 4th and we usually use part of the 3rd grade test and add in some 4th grade questions to see where they are at the beginning of the year.

    Hope this helps! :)

    Thanks for your reply!!

Does this align to the NC state standards?

I have found wonderful assessments for some states online; however, I can't find one for PA. =(

It is aligned with the NC standards...however, I went to college/student taught in PA and the standards here and there are not super different. We teach a ton of the same things in NC that the 4th graders in PA are learning. Long division, 2-digit multiplication, fraction concepts. Hope this helps! There is also a link on their page for the standard course of study which is our standards. Hope this helps!

Our district created pre/post math assessments for each grade based on our math curriculum. If you happen to use Everyday Math, I'd be happy to send you a PDF of your grade level's.
