I just found that the school that I'll be teaching at is in an arts integration program for 4th-5th grades. Does anybody have experience with this program/grant?

    Integration of Art

At my school we do not have a formal integrated Art program but I add it often to all my subjects. I teach grade 4 in a self contained classroom. For example: When we study a topic in Social Studies, I bring in pictures of art work that show historical events, places etc. I let the children explore what is happening in them and we make lots of connections to what we read. We brainstorm why the artist painted it and choose to show the work in the way he/she did. In math we bring in lots of art books and posters on works that show shapes, form, tessellations, mosaics, etc. In writing, I often ask parents if they have prints of art work they would like to share and children write poems and their own stories about the pictures. Hope that gives you some ideas.
