Last year I wanted to do a second year as a 1/2 teacher. My principal rearranged things so that did not happen. Now he/she comes to me and asks me to do it next year. I feel what the #$@^ I was willing last year, you said know and now you are saying I am the best person to do it so it will be dumped on me. I do not want it now, I do not want to switch back and forth year after year. It is stressful and tiring.
Do you have the option to say no and still have a good job? What would be the best choice for you and your career (considering your emotional/physical needs as well!). Hope you figure something out that is not too stressful
Thanks for responding! I do have contract which says he/she cannot move me because of me having been moved last year. After she/he kept telling me how I was the most able I did remind him/her of the contract. Now he/she is saying another person will get it, however he/she keeps trying to convince me to take it.
I'm glad that you weren't forced to move EMonkey! I asked to be moved out of my gr. 1-6 class to the gr. 1/2 class. Now I have the feeling that my principal is going to make it a gr. 1-3 class so that I could take the problem "student". If I could, I would change schools but due to budget cuts they are only doing teacher exchanges (I have to find a teacher to trade schools with)...
The principal at my school has made many jokes about a k through 5th combination class with specific students added to the class. Luckily it has been a joke. The principal could still move me; but I do not think it is going to happen. I hope your principal will wake up and realize how difficult that will make your 1/2.
