I'm sure you'll all be watching this new show beginning on February 27th, right?! What a coincidence that this is the highest grade level I teach.

I can't wait to see this...I'm sure I'll be adequately humbled. I will readily admit that I'm at about a 3rd grade level in math (at least without a calculator!). My husband is in charge of all math homework help...I can handle the rest. One evening, my husband was out of town and my 5th grade daughter needed help. I helped. I even felt confident that I'd actually helped. She came home the next day thanking me for helping her get an F on her homework!! Ooops! I had to laugh. I know where my weaknesses lie.

Sounds like it will be reminisent of Jay Walking, and of 1 vs. 100 special, were a guy lost to some kids.

My students came in all excited because they want to be on the show. Since they are 5th graders I suppose they could be. I will watch it just to see what it's all about. Jeff Foxworthy will host it right?

OK, did anyone else watch this tonight?

Those were NOT diffucult questions. My dad thoguht they were, but I had no trouble.

Did the guy even TRY on the triangle question? I mean... you might not remember the formula, but didn't his teachers ever talk about "does that answer make any sense?"

I know! The guy was terrible. He didn't get a single question on his own! I love the kids, though!

The kids are great. Do they win anything, or do they just get to enjoy beating the pants off supposedly educated adults?

The questions were so ridiculous( as in easy). The adults were such an embarrament.

My husband thought it was fixed, because no adult could not know the answers.

    cute little show I thought.

And yes, I think even as a child you may learn the stuff, you may not be able to pull it out of your long term memory unless you do things like celebrate Columbus day every year for the rest of your life. So you may forget some things.

I wonder if any 5th grade teachers would be brave enough to get on there. IF they failed, would they be fired? *grin*

I watched the program last night and I have to admit that I didn't know the answer to one question. I couldn't remember what month Columbus Day was in. (There really should not be a Columbus Day anyway. The man doesn’t deserve it.)

I agree with the poster who said that sometimes you just forget these things. We need to remember when watching, that we are teachers and have more access to (and use more often) this information than the contestants do. I also couldn't remember which month columbus day is in. But I really can see how adults can forget that information as they get older....

I felt the same way...my hubby looked at me...not good in math the triangle...I was trying to remember the formula!!! I told him I taught 1st grade I didn't need to know that;) The other one that got me was the impeachment...couldn't remember if this actually happened or was a trick question!!!

    Did get Columbus day though!!!

Same with me. It took me a bit to remember how to figure out that problem. I remember now, but since I teach kinder, I really haven't had to access that knowlege in a long while. I also got that impeachment wrong!! Gasp! I need to go back to fifth too. I guess we need to start a fifth grade school for teachers :D

Many of my remedial level adults did not know a lot of those answers. And this is college!

OMG, I thought that same thing. Hello, the Canada border is bigger! I got all of them except for one last night...woo hoo! Those were easier than some others the other night though.

I was 100% last night. My dad had trouble with the Star-Sun question because he wasn't thinking about the Sun being a star. Of course, he was not completely awake when he answered "the moon?" so...

Our PTO is talking about setting up a night for parents and community members to go against some of our 5th graders. That could be interesting! :)

I couldn't believe she missed the border question!! Can someone really be that dumb. Canada borders every one of our northernmost states. Duhhhhhhhh. I also couldn't believe her struggling with the Mayflower question.

    The kids are awesome though!

I knew all the answers last night, but I know I'd get up there in front of the camera and all those people and freeze. I probably wouldn't be able to remember my name. :D

My husband did not do well on the first night - I was beginning to think I needed to fill out intervention papers : ) The next night he did much better (I think he studied) I missed the impeachment question from the first night, history is not soemthing I can recall unless I have read it recently. This show is a lot of fun, espescially for teachers! Seriously how can you not realize Canada's border is longer!?!?!

I'm ashamed to admit that I got the teaspoon question wrong. But on the flip side I was the only one in my house to get the clouds, big dipper, and sodium question right!!!!

I haven't watched. My impression from the commercials is that it exists to make adults look stupid.

It does make the adult look a little stupid, but not really since a lot of us won't know the answer too. It's done in such a light hearted way that it is more fun and enlightening than anything.
