I know it's the preseason, but I'm SO excited for football season! Right now my beloved Steelers are tied with the Cardinals. :p

I know I'm not the only football nut around here! What team(s)-- college and pro-- are you looking forward to watching?

Eagles fans: What do you think about them signing Vick? He was offered a 2-year deal (something like $1.2 million for the first year with the option of signing on for a second year for over $5 million).

I'm ready! I'm a huge Packers fan (and also Brett Favre fan, even after last year). My husband and I do fantasy football every year...he loves that I'm just as into it as he is.
We also love the Badgers. Go Wisconsin!

Not thrilled with Vick on my Eagles team. :( Not that they don't always need all the help they can get, but, they could have got someone else....like T.O. again. Ha. I did like him, even though he was an ego-maniac. I will turn to watch your Steelers when my game is done!

I'm wondering how I'm supposed to look my players in the eyes and tell them to stay out of trouble, obey the law, and follow the school rules given the fact that professional athletes such as Vick can go to prison and then still get a contract.

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack. As far as football season goes, I'm excited for college football (and high school!). I don't follow the NFL all that much.

I'm an LSU fan. Geaux Tigers!

WE WON! :woot: I know, it's preseason... but I'm still happy!!

I also forgot to mention that I cheer on the Ohio State Buckeyes. I don't follow them closely, but as a former Ohioan, and a member of my husband's family :)p) it's a bit of a requirement.

My own hijack: I heard on the news last night, also, that Donte Stallworth (the Cleveland Browns player who drove drunk and killed a pedestrian) was suspended for the season. I also heard he may be reinstated next season. Is that correct?!? Don't get me wrong, I think what Vick did was heinous, but it's not on the same level as killing a human being.

Anyway, this is a happy thread about the awesome game of football. Go Steelers! YAY to your teams, too! :)

I am so excited for football! I was horribly disappointed that the Packer's scrimmage was rained out--I had my DVR all set to record it Monday night. (When you're trying to follow your team from another state, you get excited anytime they're on TV!) Can't wait until 1:00 Sunday morning--that's when I'll get to see the Packers/Browns game (okay, I'll probably watch it Sunday afternoon :) )

I'm a Bills fan (gotta cheer for your home team!) and cheer for the Cowboys. I'm super excited for T.O to be on our team and hopefully we can actually make it to the playoffs this year!

Me and my SO do fantasy football, last year was my first year and I beat 4 guys and placed fourth! I keep joking with him and his friends that this year I'm going all the way and I appreciate their money because it's helping me save money for student teaching!

I'm super excited for football to start...especially because my team didn't sign Brett Farve. Good choice Vikings!!!! I was going to boycott the season if they signed him...which would have made me really angry cause I LOVE FOOTBALL!!!! I also like to follow Kurt Warner since he's an Iowan...so Go Cardinals!

As for college football...Iowa Hawkeyes and USC!

I was also super excited NOT to have to see that. The MIN at GB game is a Monday Night Football game on my birthday. It would have been really hard to see him come out of the tunnel in purple...(seeing as I clearly remember when he came into his first game--I was in 2nd grade and that's my first football memory!)

I know myKroom, maybe we jinxed it. It definitely ruined my whole day on Tuesday. Last year I was able to ignore him (and at least when I saw highlights he was still wearing green!). Awfully hard to ignore a division rival...

Meh... Steelers lost in the fourth quarter. It's only preseason and it shows that our "little guys" just aren't as great... Ben was injured. I do love Ben, but the constant focus on his injuries last year was a bit annoying: if he played poorly, it's because he was injured. If he played a great game, WOW--he did it while injured!!!

I recall his first game too!
He started his first game as a Packer the day before I started my first day teaching. I joke that maybe he's not retiring because I'm not

I plan to root on Brett but not the Vikings.
How I am not sure yet.
Brett is just special to me.
When my husband was going thru his own recovery,
I read a lot about Brett and Deanna's recovery challenges.
Because Brett was dear to me in the football world,
these readings helped me more than anything else.

Rabbitt, I guess you have to hope their defense is horrible, then!

Packers looked pretty impressive on Saturday; so much for the time the defense was going to need to "adjust"!!
