An internal job opportunity with someone who doesn't work in the district? There's a job open at my school and it is internal (it's already spent a couple weeks on AppliTrack and was recently taken down), would it be inappropriate to talk to some of my job hunting friends about it? I know that no one from within the district will be taking it, so would it be horrible to just let them know that the job will most likely be open for all applicants sometime soon? Just wondering...I know I'm probably worrying over nothing, I just don't want to do something frowned upon haha.
I see nothing wrong with it. If the district doesn't want to make it available to outside candidates or if it has already been filled internally, they certainly don't have to conduct interviews or even view the applications your friends submit.
No issues there at all. Someone is going to benefit from the inside scoop - it might as well be people in your circle (particularly if they would be a good addition to your team).
Ok, good! Yes, I would love to work with this person...he's a male SPED teacher. Not only are those a rare find, but his personality would fit right in with the rest of us Thanks for the reassurance!
Rare indeed. Guys at the elementary level can be tough to come by. It's always interesting to see what different elements they can bring to the table. Best of luck getting him on board!
In my district there wouldn't be anything wrong with that. Principals wouldn't be able to look at outside candidates until after a certain date, though.
I got an interview l one time because someone told me they had an internal opening that was gonna go public soon. I didn't get the job (ended up being filled internally after all) but it was a good interview. Any leg up/ inside info is a plus.
I don't think it's wrong. they can't apply anyways until the the district makes it available to outsiders. the only thing you're doing is giving them extra time to prepare, just in case the can apply later, so it shouldn't be a big deal.
Definitely share the info! They can always put "anticipated position" in the cover letter. But I share that info all the time
