We start our April break this week and I have no desire to do anything special. I am so content with staying home and just relaxing and doing the things I enjoy; sleeping in, making nice breakfasts, catching up on tv shows, baking, gardening (if weather permits) or just sitting outside on my deck reading. I do have plans to go for dinner tomorrow night with my mom and lunch on Wednesday with a friend but I just don't have this overwhelming feeling to do anything ''big'' like some of the Paras and Teachers I work with........anyone else a homebody??? If so, what are some of your favorite things to do when you are home? .
I definitely am during the week. I usually don't have any desire to go out to dinner or happy hour or anything like that, and typically I'll only go if it's a special occasion like someone's birthday. By the time I get home I typically only have 3-4 hours until I have to go to bed and I want that time to recharge. I definitely like to go out during the weekends, but I still like a little down time too. I went out with friends last night and Friday night, so today I just wanted to relax at home even though I was invited to brunch. I usually read, watch tv, play with my cat, or play around on the internet. I try to do a workout video at least a few times a week also. I feel differently during breaks when I am not so busy with work. I definitely don't mind a day or two of just hanging around my house but after that I'd definitely get bored and want to go out and do something with people.
I'm overall a homebody, I'd say, but generally 2 days home in a row & I need to get out. I can keep myself plenty busy at home & the time zips by pretty fast even then. I... - computer and/or phone work - read - watch TV for sure..I've always got plenty recorded on the DVR at all times - surf the net & watch YouTube videos, participate in discussion boards, enter online sweepstakes, etc. - might dig out one of my coloring books & color a page - water/care for my plants - could play (Halo usually) on the Xbox 360, but haven't done that in ages - do light housework if it needs to be done (laundry, tidy up my desk, etc.) After doing all that, it would have gone from morning to night fast & I don't even take a nap.
Yes, frequently will keep to myself during breaks. I always have a list of things I want to read and projects I want to complete. Sometimes I will meet up with a friend to go walking/hiking or out to lunch/coffee but not all the time. I actually prefer to go walking by myself so I can just look at the scenery of the trails and not have to keep up conversations with anyone. It was just my dog and me at home during Spring break (my husband was working) and I had a nice relaxing time. I do meet with my women's group one night a week so I always have that to look forward too but sometimes it's nice to have time to yourself.
Yes! I love being home by myself during breaks. I love getting to hang out on the couch and drink coffee in the morning, go to the ranch where I ride horses, work on projects around the house, and maybe treat myself to a pedicure or shopping trip. My husband works most of the time I'm on break so I usually don't go anywhere even though I could!
I'm SUCH a homebody, and not just during breaks. I'm very introverted, so teaching tends to drain my social cup, so to speak. In the afternoon/evenings and breaks I am quite happy to stay home and do my own thing. I spend time with my fiance if he's home, read, watch Netflix, browse the internet, go for long walks with my dog, bake, workout, take care of my yard/plants, and other chores around the house. I could be happy doing this for days on end. I enjoy having plans occasionally and I do make more plans in the summer when interacting with people isn't 90% of my day, but even then if my friends and family are busy and I go a few days without much social interaction it really doesn't bother me too much.
A complete homebody here. I meet a friend for a movie or lunch once a week, see one of my sisters each week, and that is fine with me. And I am semi-retired! It feels like the greatest indulgence to have more time to read, do puzzles, play word games, take care of my new puppy, watch my favorite shows. Unfortunately, my passion for cleaning has ebbed away over the years .....
I am happy to see that many of you seem to feel the way I do. I do plan lunches, shopping and things like that but its not a daily thing..i love my apartment so much and because I am not a social butterfly and as some of you have said..get my ''social cup'' filled during my working hours (and with my mom who lives 5 min from me and I see a few nights a week) i really do enjoy my alone time..i actually NEED it! Tomorrow there is a lot of rain in the forecast so I will be home baking and just relaxing, surfing the internet and catching up on my tv shows..i just love not having to go to bed early..or be woken up by my blarrrrring alarm clock this week
I'm off this week. I have a few projects at home but I also NEED to get out for some fun to balance the home time. Went away with hubs for the weekend. I have 2 doctors appointments and some 'me time' scheduled- eyebrows, nails, hair... I'm also meeting a friend for lunch, hoping to get to an exhibit in the city, have dinner plans for the weekend.
I am a homebody as far as it relates to socializing with others. I like to go to the theme parks with my family, and that's about it. I treasure the time I can spend at home quietly doing whatever I want.
I like a week or shorter vacation once a year and a few short trips to Chicago to see my youngest, but other than that I LOVE being at home. I have lots of hobbies, a big yard, and I could read all day. In the summer I usually meet a friend about twice a week, just because there is time.
We stay home a lot...for one it's cheaper! Lol. We love to have bonfires when the weather warms up. We have this great grill thing you put over your fire. We make dinner over the fire on the weekends. We like to watch movies.
I'm a mixture. I can enjoy staying home and there are times I just want out of the house. During the summer, I think I'm more of a homebody so I'm not out spending money!
Sometimes I'm a homebody, but after three days at home, I start being so bored. So when I have a long vacation, first three days I enjoy cooking, sleeping, spending time with my family and then, as usual, I start planning some adventures (such as picnics, riding a bike, or visiting my friends from other cities)
I don't know if I qualify as a homebody. During the week all I want to do is go home and chill. Sweets and I may get dinner somewhere, and once a month I meet with my book club, but otherwise I am generally content with staying home and doing very little. On the weekends I run errands, maybe we get together with family or whatever. I don't like big loud crowds anymore other than sporting events, and I hate small talk and mingling with people I don't know well. It just drains all my energy. But I also can't stand to NOT get out among people even if it means just going for coffee and reading a book.
I am so glad this thread was started-I am the same way! I enjoy going places on the weekends with my boyfriend and our double date partners, who we are close to, but that's nothing crazy (museums, game nights, etc). Breaks are glorious and I get so much done around the house. I was an only child, so I learned to entertain myself early on!
I'm like many of you - during the week I like to come home and relax. On weekends I can usually handle one day of being busy but I like to know the other day is free. At the beginning of breaks I enjoy a few days at home getting things done and then I'm ready to go out. One of life's greatest luxuries is to go out for lunch on a week day. I love doing that and do it often during the summer. I always go away on a holiday for spring break because I don't want to spend the entire week at home alone while all my friends and family are at work.
I'm not a homebody, but they would cook delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners for me. I would reconsider my position in life!
Yes, it always sounds like a great idea when you're making the plans then when the time comes you'd rather stay home. A friend of mine asked if I wanted to go to an event at a local library over the summer and when I learned it was 4 hours long I declined. That was just too much LOL
Yes, I'm definitely a homebody, especially in autumn. Especially now when I installed firestick here and can enjoy a lot of interesting movies. There's something comforting about settling in with a great film, your favorite snacks, and perhaps some cozy blankets.
Spending time at home truly brings me joy, as it's my favorite place in the world. I feel incredibly fortunate that Clerk Chat exists, as it enables me to work from home more often. With Clerk Chat's assistance, I can seamlessly communicate with colleagues, manage tasks, and stay productive, all from the comfort of my own space. It's a game-changer that allows me to strike a perfect balance between work and relaxation in my favorite environment.
I prefer spending time actively. Fortunately, my husband also likes it. We often go cycling, hiking, or camping together. Also, we enjoy fishing. This year we are going to buy a boat, and I'm very excited about that. We've already contacted defender marine customer service and made an order. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
