Yesterday I received an email from a consortium alerting me of an opening at a charter school (charter schools are not part of the consortium). I was on my way back from an interview, so I was already all dressed up. I started pulling extra copies of everything from my portfolio and managed to have everything vital except, obviously, a cover letter. (Some things had bent corners, but it was the best I had at the moment!). I should note that I am searching for a job in a different state and I was only in town yesterday (I left at 7AM today). That is why I was rushing to drop off wrinkled papers. Anyway, I got there at 3:50 and there were still cars there! Yay! The sign on the door said their office hours ended at 3. I went in anyway, and the office was dark (but open). I could hear kids, so I assume it was some time of tutoring program. I turned around and left. I e-mailed a cover letter and my resume immediately. When I got home (home home in NC), I had this e-mail Ms. giraffe, Thank you for your application and interest in our school. We will be scheduling interviews within the next few weeks. Please expect a telephone call from **secretary's name** to schedule this. **Principal's name*** So, are they being nice? Or should I really expect a call? I'd hate to think they'd give me false hope!
