Hello, I am new to this forum and need some help please. I am considering moving out of my school district into a charter school in Texas. Does anyone have experience doing this? What are the pros and cons? Also they use the ARC Curriculum. Do you have any experience with this curriculum? Any insight would be so helpful as I consider options. Thank you!

    American Reading Company?

I hate it. There are sooooo many materials to juggle. It’s really overwhelming and cumbersome. As far as effectiveness, it may be okay for upper elementary, but I would never recommend it for K-2 because there is zero phonics instruction. I would only recommend it as a supplemental program where the school could select units, such as the bug unit for 2nd grade or civil rights for 5th.

Like, when I say there are too many materials, I mean it. This is all from two classrooms.

@Caesar753 Yes, American Reading Company. Oh great! that is a ton of material! The charter school says its a new curriculum they have adopted. Is American Reading Company based on Common Core? That is what I saw, and if so that doesn't make sense to me seeing as how I am in Texas and we use Texas TEKS.
