Just wondering if anyone has experience with AR in middle school? How did it work? Did/do you "teach" novels in addition that or in place of? How much time was devoted? How did you integrate it into the rest of your curriculum?

Thanks so much for your help!

I did AR about 10 years ago, but we haven't had it since then. It was used as part of my reading program, but definitely a small part. Yes-I taught novels as well. I probably used it as independent time when students completed other work.

Yes, I've used AR in middle school. I'm even took the workshops to be certified to train people to use the program. For awhile I did trainings for middle and high schools. I can answer your questions tomorrow.

Thank you both. I think it is interesting, but it does seem limiting. Anyone have good alternatives to it?
