Some of you may remember the situation about 6 weeks ago where I had to interview for a first grade position at my school and I didn't get the job. My school isn't going to have any opportunities for switching grades in the near future, and I really would like to teach a grade other than kindergarten. So, today I am applying for a job at a different school in the district. Here is why some people would think that I'm crazy...Some features of my school: -My classroom contains: -6 new mini laptops (I got them through a grant and they would have to stay at my school.) -A document camera (also with my grant money, and would stay at the school) -A smartboard -A bathroom -Most students at my school come from great families. I have had 21 students in my class for the past 3 years, and each year only one student came from a divorced home. Everything is so consistent, and parents are on top of things and care. There is very little family/parent drama. -My school has a large amount of resources and supplies for teachers. I can pretty much get anything I want for supplies, and we have an entire classroom filled with guided reading books. I'm really spoiled! At this other school, the population is a little more difficult, they do not have very many smartboards, and I do not know what they have for resources and supplies. However, I'm really excited at the possibility of going to this school because I think I would love 2nd grade, and I heard this 2nd grade team is a lot of fun. Also, they have a new principal, who used to be my mentor, and I really like her. I guess there really isn't a point to this post, except to say wish me luck! I think I would be really happy switching schools next year, even though I would have less teaching tools to work with. They used to teach with just chalkboards and chalk, right?
