I've been subbing for the past year since I've finished student teaching, and have been trying to get a job. This question is on one of the PK-3 applications, and I have NO IDEA how to answer it.

In what ways are you qualified to address the issue of diversity as a part of your instructional program?

Hey texasteacher! I've come across the same question. I generally have a few ideas in mind:

    1. The teacher must understand their own prejudices upon entering the classroom.
    2. Be straightforward with children when they ask questions. The problem does not come from students asking or questioning. It comes from them not knowing.
    3. And then I add things about having diverse materials within my classroom.

    Hope this helps a little!

Another thought I had was regarding cultural diversity.

You would want to include in your lessons and really celebrate the cultures that are represented in your classroom (heroes, holidays, traditions etc).
