Sign-Up Genius (app to share material costs with parents)

Okay, 2ndTimeAround came through with an amazing site. Parents can sign up for specific slots of different items, and it blocks them off once they've all been signed up for. Could potentially save me hundreds of dollars a year!

Yes, let me find the website and provide a link. I just used it for a potluck that someone else set up :)

One of my parents used perfectpotluck.com for our cast party. It was used for food, but it might be able to be used for other items.

Okay. Made my list, and sent it out to parents, and the response is amazing. The list looks amazing and it's very customizable. This is awesome.

I might have to do something like this all year round next year. I'll stop wasting hundreds of dollars of my own money and some parents seem like they enjoy donating simple materials more than money. This is great!

I was (and still am to some degree) a parent that enjoyed donating to the classroom. When my oldest entered school we decided at the last minute to put her in a public school instead of the private one where she was enrolled. Money was never part of that decision so in my mind we had an extra $350/month to spend on school. We did not spend that much by any means, but we did not hesitate when we heard of a need.

Since then I became a teacher. And still to this day I would much rather buy general supplies for my kids' classrooms than my own. Parent first, teacher second.
