AP exams for colleges inquiry

    Do colleges look bad on a bad AP score? I suggested to a student that he/she could call the school up to see what they say. I would guess "no" because it seems the main purpose of an AP exam is to save money from taking coursework at college. Anyone else have other input? Thank you.

    I don't think so. I bombed some of my APs and I still got into NYU, so...

    Quite the opposite from every admissions counselor I've spoken too. They do question when kids have AP classes but did not take the test at all. They want to see that they've tried even if they did not pass.

    I don't think they look at the scores for entry. Only for testing out of classes. I got a 1 on my AP chem:lol:

    Good AP scores can help you, but I'm not sure if bad ones will hurt too much.

    I got 5's on both of mine, but they didn't help for college admissions because I took them senior year.
