Quite a first night!
Thanks! I'm going to it now!
I forgot abt it.
Ha! I am behind everyone - It doesn't come on here for another 2 hours! Is it worth recording and watching later???
I would say yes. There are a few standouts, a few angry ones, not as many completely whacked out people as some years.
YUP watching...ok back to it now!!!
I forgot about it, but I am watching the second half.
Of course I'm watching! I really like the enrique iglesias looking guy that simon appears to have a boy crush on! LOL Did anyone else notice?
The guy who had cancer?
Unfortunately it's on during both NCISes. I'm hoping to catch it on Hulu tomorrow.
Victoria has not really said anything. I wonder when Ellen starts?

I actually liked Victoria as a judge....as least she has a music background. (If you count Spice Girls as music. haha)
I wish she'd stay the judge instead of Ellen.
People I liked on Idol tonight:
the first girl to get to Hollywood (maybe her name is Maddy?)
the guy ya'll were mentioning earlier who Simon liked a lot
the pretty girl with long hair who everyone said was one of the very best
the guy they featured with his family having meals together
Wow, I should learn names.
They said Ellen isn't supposed to start until February so there will be a bunch of fill in judges I guess. Who was the 4th judge last night?
Teacher, Victoria Beckham (Spice Girls fame) was the judge last night. My daugther can't wait for Joe Jonas to be the guest judge, but we don't know when that airs.
I loved that first girl, Maddy (Mattie?). She was the young gal with 3 brothers with Down Syndrome.
The guy from the large Italian family was a riot - and very sweet.
The only problem tonight is that I will have to wait to watch Modern Family, one of my other favorites.

Of course I am!
I liked the guy the girls went crazy over with the curly hair, broken wrist and come hither stance on the last part of that song. I liked others too just as much but I can't remember any of them that hasn't been mentioned here.
And I got to sing the "Pants on the ground" song today to one of our students! Sweeeeeet.....
 shouldbeasleep. That song was my favorite part of the night.
mm~I didn't think you watched AI?
I watch the audition episodes, but nothing else.
I missed the first night cuz' I had to work my retail 2nd job. I watched night 2 on tue. Can't wait for this season!! I wish I had DVR so I could record it and watch it when I get off work for those nights I work.
Quick note: For those who don't know they always have celeb judges at the first picking of idols. It is not just cuz' Ellen is not on yet. They have had them every season since idk when.

I watched part of Boston show; was there two shows this week?? Does anyone have a schedule?
There were two shows. The second one was in Atlanta.
It airs on Tues and Wed nights.
Did you guys see this?
Count me in as one of Platt's fans.
Love it! I feel like blasting this in our grade 7/8 hall.
I heard today on the radio that he had gotten beaten up pretty badly during the Selma riots. I hope the kids understand what he's saying--that's it's more than just pull your pants up.

I saw Simon and his middle finger motion too.
What is UP with that?
thank you Daisy!

You're welcome. So far, there seems to be a lot of talent.

Is anyone watching AI this year?
Yay! I tivoed it last night. That's a PERFECT snow time activity for today.
Yeah, I watch it. I'm sad that Simon's leaving after this season. What do you guys think will happen to the show once Simon's gone? I don't think it will be as popular
I like Ellen as a judge so far. And I'm really glad they started letting the contestants use instruments a couple seasons ago. I think there are a lot that have a lot of talent but not the strongest voices so when they can really be in their element w/ their instrument of choice, it brings out the best of them.
I like Ellen, too. She had a good balance of humor and judging last night.
I can't imagine the show without Simon.
I heard today on The View (I have no life) that the big guy whose wife was in labor is the one who was kicked out when his father disclosed that his son made it to the top 10 (or some point, anyway). Anybody know anything about this?
As an aside - I'm listening to Carrie Underwood's new album right now and it's beautiful.
The "big guy" whose wife was in labor is a former resident of my city and he and his brothers (there is a sister, too) went to my school. I had the youngest boy, Marque and knew Michael, the current contestant. There was a BIG fuss in our city when the it became known that Michael was kicked off because someone (Dad?) leaked the news. But it was said that who ever leaked it also reported that Michael's mom worked for our local newspaper and also was involved. The problem is that Michelle Lynch did work for the paper, but died several years ago. It certainly seems to me that Dad would have noticed his wife's death. I haven't read one single thing since the original story, so don't know what is going on at this point!
Awww. He seemed so talented. I'm sorry that he had to leave before his time.
I guess I don't remember that guy... I'll have to google I guess.
UPDATE: I just checked it out... if you would have said the guy with the large biceps I would have remembered right away!!! That's too bad, but it happens.
I know there were a couple contestants that had family in our area & their fam was questioned & they would just say they aren't allowed to tell right now.
We are watching it. The whole family is into Idol!!!
Daisy we have Carrie's newest cd & Kris Allen's!!! We are waiting to hear how Danny's will sound.
I love Ellen as a judge so far, she thinks like Simon, but she phrases things as jokes!
I think that it is great that the idols can use their instruments! I think that if we judged most musicians on just voice quality alone, we would be missing out on a lot!
