Hey does anyone use Raz-kids? I'm considering purchasing it next school year for my class and was wondering what others think of the computer program.

    Thanks

We use raz-kids with some of our students in our K-4 buildings. I used it when I taught in the alternative school. My students with EBD loved the program so it was a nice quiet time.

One of the gen ed teachers I work with uses it. She was in 3rd grade. The kids LOVED the program. A lot of them talked about doing it at home too (I guess she just gave parents the password), so it was a great motivation for them to practice that stuff on their own time. You can collect little points and "buy" more games and things with them- the kids were really into it.

I used it about 4 years ago and loved it. I have noticed that they made some changes to it though. I have talked to my assistant principal about wanting my class to participate in it this year.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking about purchasing it for my prek/k class next year as reinforcement for what we are doing in the classroom... you can never have enough literacy!

I loved it but it has become so expensive I cannot afford it. The school won't pay for it either in these tough times.

I use it in my KG class and love it. The kids really enjoy the program and get so excited when they move up to the next level! And I can go in and see how each child is doing, what level they are at, what quizzes they have taken, and what kinds of questions they are missing on the quizzes. Great program!

I am using it right now with last years Kindergarten class. My students are reading so hopefully they won't lose a lot of the skills taught during the regular year. I love it because it allows me to track each students progress and I can also leave a positive message to encourage them to keep reading. Maybe ask your PTO to purchase it for your class. It is well worth the money!!! Easy to use and teacher friendly.
