I must admit, I only have the vaguest idea about what Daily 5 even is, but I really like what I've learned. My question, though, is do you think it's too young to use in a 7th grade classroom? Do you use it? Do you have any great tips or resources?

Are you just teaching reading? If you are teaching ELAR, I don't think it would work.

I teach an English class. We have long blocks, so I often include reading time in my day. We also have to write, learn skills, analyze literature, but there's always time for SSR and the like.

I use it with my sixth graders and I love it! But I don't use all the pieces. My students always have read to self. We will have a word study section a few times a week (2-3 depending). I will allow read to someone or listening to reading usually once a week. I usually skipping the writing section as I tie that into read to self (they write a little after reading to self) or my writing block which is separate from reading.
