Not sure if anyone here teaching government/civics but I would love a link to any good sites you have for lesson plans/activities/ect. I'm new to teaching civics so I'm still gathering resources.

I'm trying to avoid using my schools textbooks(way old) but it can be tough to find resources sometimes. Thanks for any suggestions!

I'd start with #sschat on Twitter. It is primarily focused on history but there's plenty of government links and discussion that come up.

Rummage around on Richard Byrne's remarkable blog Free Technology for Teachers, www.freetech4teachers.com: he should have links to lots of goodies in civics.
